  • Patent number: 4871013
Abstract: The present invention relates to a plate heat exchanger comprising several heat exchange plates arranged between two end plates (30), at least one of which has through-ports (31) and a side surface (36) facing the heat exchange plates, which is unmachined around the ports (31). At least one of said ports is provided with a cover (32) preventing through-flow. According to the invention said cover (32) is applied against the side surface (36) of the end plate (30) facing the heat exchange plate, and comprises at least two cooperating parts, a first thin part (33) abutting said side surface (36) and a second thick part (35) mainly placed within and essentially covering said port (31). Said first part (33) is dimensioned to withstand shearing forces and said second part (35) is dimensioned to withstand bending forces acting on the cover (32) as a result of an internal pressure in the plate heat exchanger.

  • Patent number: 4848451
Abstract: The present invention relates to a plate heat exchanger comprising heat exchange plates clamped between a frame plate and a pressure plate, the frame plate and the pressure plate having ports with linings for intake and outflow of media to be heat exchanged and the heat exchange plates having ports in alignment with corresponding ports in the frame plate and the pressure plate round which ports of the heat exchange plates ring gasket grooves extend. According to the invention the one of the frame plate or the pressure plate (1) facing the rear side of the ring gasket groove (4) of the heat exchange plates is provided with linings (2; 14; 22; 23) which do not require machining of the plate (1) at the area of the ports and that the sealing between the lining (2; 14; 22; 23) and a heat exchange plate (3) is brought about by means of a ring gasket (10; 21) engaging the ring gasket groove of the heat exchange plate (3) positioned closest to the frame plate or the pressure plate (1).

  • Patent number: 4813478
Abstract: A frame or a pressure plate (end plate) has two horizontal sides and two vertical sides and is provided with holes or recesses for fastening means used for clamping heat exchange plates between the end plates. The end plate has only one hole or recess (6a, b; 7a, b; 8a, b; 9a, b) at the upper and lower horizontal side, the hole or recess (6a; 7a; 8a; 9a) at the upper side being located on one side of the vertical center line (L) and the hole or recess (6b; 7b; 8b; 9b) at the lower side being located on the other side of the vertical center line (L). The end plate has at least one hole or one recess (10a, b) at each vertical side such that a line between the uppermost hole or recess on each side of the vertical center line forms an angle with the vertical center line, larger than 0.degree. but less than 90.degree..

  • Patent number: 4804040
Abstract: The present invention relates to a kind of plate heat exchanger (1) comprising several heat exchange plates (2, 2D), which are arranged between a frame plate (3) and a pressure plate (4) and are supported by a lower carrying bar (7), said lower carrying bar (7) and an upper guiding bar (6, 6B) extending through recesses (18) in lower and upper parts, respectively, of the heat exchange plates (2, 2D), and at least the upper part of each heat exchange plate (2, 2D) being provided with at least one lug (19, 20) extending into the upper recess (18) and forming an upper constriction of it for retaining of the heat exchange plate (2, 2D) in position on the guiding bar (6, 6B), said lug being flexible enough to be bent aside to permit insertion of the guiding bar into the recess and to spring back after the bar has been inserted.

  • Patent number: 4800007
Abstract: This invention relates to anodic corrosion protection for heat exchangers and comprises cathodes put into the inlet channel and the outlet channel for the corrosive medium and an anode constituted by the metal being the partition walls in the heat exchanger. The anode and the cathodes are integral parts of a direct current circuit, the amperage of which is influenced by a control reference electrode placed in the flow way for the corrosive medium. The characterizing feature of the invention is that the control reference electrode (11) is arranged in the ordinary or a separate flow way for the corrosive medium at an essential distance from the cathodes (9, 10) so that the corrosion protection of all parts of the heat exchanger, which are to be protected, is secured.

  • Patent number: 4750555
Abstract: A frame plate (11) for a plate heat exchanger has two ports (12, 13), to which there are connected two tubes provided with annular flanges (16, 17). The ports (12, 13) are situated so close to each other that there is no room for the flanges (16, 17) of the two tubes to be arranged side by side. The problem is solved, according to the invention, by arranging at least one port (12), between the frame plate (11) and the annular tube flange (16), at least one removable spacing member (14) surrounding a communication channel between the port (12) and the interior of the tube, the tube flange (16), further, being connected with the frame plate (11) by means (18) separate from the spacing member (14) in a manner such that the latter is clamped between the frame plate (11) and the tube flange (16).

  • Patent number: 4699212
Abstract: In a plate heat exchanger having a frame plate and a pressure plate, at least one of these plates has holes for flow of the heat exchanging media to and from respective passages in the pack of heat exchange plates. Each of these holes has a lining of corrosion-resistant metal comprising a hollow cylinder with thin flanges at its opposite ends engaging opposite sides of the frame plate or pressure plate. One of these flanges has a seamless connection with the hollow cylinder and is sealingly compressed between a heat exchange plate and an undepressed surface of the inner side of the adjacent frame plate or pressure plate. Lining of the hole is effected by plastically deforming a metal disc into a hollow cylinder with a flange at one end, inserting the other end of the cylinder through the hole to engage the flange with said undepressed surface, and then providing said other end of the cylinder with a flange engaging an undepressed surface of the outer side of the frame or pressure plate.
