    Abstract: A method for the operation of a panel placement system for punching presses wherein a feed slide is moved between the punching die of the punching press and a transfer position located in front of the punching press. A first connection mechanism of the feed slide, in the transfer position, seizes a panel in the rear area to advance it stepwise through the punching press in response to the cycle of said punching press, wherein the panel is gripped exclusively from above in a rear edge area which is located between the rear edge and the surfaces to be punched out.

    Abstract: A pair of numerically controlled feed devices are successively operated, with the second feed device taking over from the first feed device when two or more punching steps have been performed. A trailing row of punching tools performs the first punching step with respect to a fresh plate at the same time when a leading row of tools performs the last punching step with respect to the preceding plate. There are provided sensors to determine plate length and/or angularity of the plate edges in order to enable a numerical control to compute correction data for correcting the feeding of the plate whereby punching through the trailing and leading edges of the plates is avoided.

    Abstract: A plate positioning system for presses, comprising a feeding slide guided along a first axis which is moved to and from the cutting tool of the press, at least a pair of releasable gripping mechanism (preferably gripping pliers), which are guided by the slide along a second axis to be adjustable relative to the first axis, a serving slide which is adjustable along the first axis, which serving slide includes releasable gripping mechanism (preferably gripping pliers) to advance a plate into a transfer position to be taken by the first gripping mechanism, wherein the gripping mechanism engage opposite sides of a plate at a trailing edge thereof, wherein the transfer position corresponds to the plate position for the first cut and wherein the transfer of the plate to the first gripping mechanism is performed during the first cut, the serving slide bringing the plate into the transfer position only when the gripping mechanism have reached their receiving position along both axes.

    Abstract: A feeder for introducing and feeding plates into a machine tool, comprising a positioning station in which the plates are positioned one after the other with respect to orthogonal axes, a transfer section between the machine tool and the positioning station, two feeding carriages provided with grippers for seizing an edge of the plates and adapted to be adjusted along two parallel first guides between the positioning station and the machine tool by first feeding drives, with the two first guides guided by a second guide, the axis of which extends orthogonally with respect to the axis of the first guides, and adapted to be adjusted each by a second feeding drive of their own; and an automatic control controlling the feeding drives in such a manner that a plate is fed into a first processing position before the machine tool after the last working stroke for the preceding plate and before the machine tool performs a further working stroke.
