Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems and methods related to reducing or making more efficient handovers from one cell to another cell in a communications network. The method includes receiving mobility data for a device being serviced by a first cell, classifying the device based on the mobility data to yield a classification and making a handoff decision when handing off the device from the first cell to a second cell based at least in part on the classification. An example of the mobility data is a speed at which the device is moving or time a device is in a cell.
