  • Patent number: 4303164
Abstract: An apparatus for inhibiting the oscillation of a vertical crane or similar structure with a horizontal main jib supporting a load hoist apparatus. The main jib has a counter jib which supports a counterweight mass by a linkage system. The linkage system permits the counterweight mass to swing through an arc so that it dampening the swinging movement of the crane. The linkage system also permits the counterweight mass to be vertically adjustable relative to the main jib so as to accommodate crane structure of different sizes.

  • Patent number: 4235305
Abstract: Rails are mounted on the wall of a domelike reactor tank along pilasters extending downwardly from the top of the dome. A carriage is drivably mounted on the rails along each pilaster. The carriages each comprise drive means, and a working and inspecting platform. The platform is pivotally mounted and means are provided to control the setting of the platform so that it is always kept horizontal, irrespective of the slope of the rails. The carriage comprises a main frame in which two sub-frames are pivotally mounted one after the other, on pivot means extending transversally of the direction of motion of the carriage. Two wheel units, or boggie frames, are pivotally mounted in each sub-frame, one on each side of said pivot means. Each boggie frame is carried by wheels engaging the rail means.

  • Patent number: 4164271
Abstract: A system for indicating the stop levels for an elevator car in a hoist shaft so as to transmit signals to the elevator machinery when a selected stop level is approached. Vertically aligned pins are provided projecting from the wall of the hoist shaft; at least one pin being provided for each stop level. The pins extend into the path of the arms of the a cross, fixed to one end of a shaft journaled in a box which is attached to the outside wall of the elevator car and cause the cross and shaft to rotate a quarter turn each time one of the arms of the cross engages one of the pins. The other end of the shaft carries a pinion gear which engages a movable rack connected to a linearly movable slide mounted on the elevator car. One end of the slide ends in a stairstep-like configuration, each step serving to actuate one microswitch in a transverse row of microswitches as the slide moves.

  • Patent number: 4009767
Abstract: This invention relates to a device for use in elevators for the unlocking and locking of closed doors, gates, bars or wickets. The device comprises a mechanical locking means arranged at the door, gate, bar or wicket and includes a locking bolt moved to locking position by a spring. The locking bolt is movable against the action of the spring to a non-locking position by means of an electromagnet which is arranged to be activated, by a lock actuator device carried by the elevator cage, when the cage is at a holding floor at which it is to be stopped. The locking means further includes an electrically conductive element, preferably in form of a contact washer around the locking bolt or a prolongation of the bolt, which element follows the motion of the locking bolt and operates to close an electric circuit when the bolt is in locking position.
