Abstract: A system of having a circuit having an electrical coil configured to generate a magnetic field based on properties of a surrounding space and an object presented to the electrical coil and a sensor configured to sense inductance and resistance of the electrical coil and to discriminate the object presented to the electrical coil in accordance with the sensing. A precision variable resistor to control resistance of an in-loop photoresistor with an out-loop photoresistor that are located parallel to each other.

Abstract: A method cleans a plurality of filters in parallel, each a filter having an inlet side and an outlet side separated by a filter barrier. In an operational phase, water is filtered using a plurality of the filters, by passing the water through the filter, from the inlet side to the outlet side. These filters may be a hollow fiber membrane. In a cleaning phase, at least one of the filters is cleaned while the other filters are filtering water in the operational phase. Each filter is cleaned by supplying sodium hypochlorite to the inlet side of the filter when the filter is off-line. The inlet side of the filter is allowed to soak in the sodium hypochlorite for at least 30 seconds without the sodium hypochlorite being pressurized through the filter barrier during the soaking process. This oxidizes organic contaminates near the surface of the filter. The filters are cycled through the cleaning phase such that each filter is repeatedly cleaned while other filters are filtering in the operational phase.

Abstract: A chemical or biological containment apparatus having a seal to contain contaminants in an inside thereof from passing to an outside, including an outer envelope; a port disposed in the envelope, the port including an outer portion having a circumferential portion extending away from the envelope and a flange extending from the circumferential portion and attached to the envelope, and an inner portion. The inner portion includes a circumferential surface corresponding to the circumferential portion, a plurality of grooves formed in the circumferential surface, and a plurality of O-rings respectively received in the grooves to form the seal with the outer portion.

Abstract: A collapsible, protective containment device isolates a patient in a controlled environment. The containment device has a flexible containment wall, a closure device an air ventilation device and a plurality of ribs. The flexible containment wall is expandable from a collapsed state to define an interior region for receiving at least a portion of a patient therein and providing an impermeable barrier about the portion of the patient, for at least a selected contaminant. The closure device closes the containment wall about the patient to provide a substantially airtight interior region. The air ventilation device provides a gas comprising oxygen to the substantially airtight interior. The plurality of inflatable ribs provided along a length of the containment wall, the inflatable ribs defining one or more air compartments separate from the interior region within the containment wall, the one or more inflatable ribs supporting the containment wall away from the patient.
