Patent number: 8837746Abstract: A dual omnidirectional microphone array noise suppression is described. Compared to conventional arrays and algorithms, which seek to reduce noise by nulling out noise sources, the array of an embodiment is used to form two distinct virtual directional microphones which are configured to have very similar noise responses and very dissimilar speech responses. The only null formed is one used to remove the speech of the user from V2. The two virtual microphones may be paired with an adaptive filter algorithm and VAD algorithm to significantly reduce the noise without distorting the speech, significantly improving the SNR of the desired speech over conventional noise suppression systems.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2008Date of Patent: September 16, 2014Assignee: AliphComInventor: Gregory C. DATA-CAPABLE BAND MANAGEMENT IN AN INTEGRATED APPLICATION AND NETWORK COMMUNICATION DATA ENVIRONMENT
Publication number: 20140240144Abstract: Techniques for data-capable band management in an integrated application and network communication data environment are described. In some examples, a first wearable device may transmit to a second wearable device a signal configured to initiate detection of a second sensory input to determine whether the second sensory input is equal to or greater than a threshold for an activity. A first sensory input is received from one or more sensors coupled to the first wearable device and compared to the threshold. A first parameter associated with the first sensory input, the first sensory input being equal to or greater than the threshold, is evaluated. A second parameter associated with the second sensory input, the second sensory input being equal to or greater than the threshold, is received from the second wearable device. The first parameter and the second parameter are displayed on a user interface.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 31, 2013Publication date: August 28, 2014Applicant: AliphcomInventors: Hosain Sadequr Rahman, Richard Lee Drysdale, Michael Edward Smith Luna, Scott Fullam, Travis Austin Bogard, Jeremiah Robison, Max Everett Utter, Thomas Alan Donaldson, Louis Moore, Galen Myers, Raymond A. Patent number: 8804986Abstract: Systems, apparatus, devices, and methods for converting electrical signals into sound using an acoustic transducer. The inventive acoustic transducer utilizes the motion of an airfoil shaped element to generate a sound wave, with the airfoil element being driven in response to an electrical signal input to a suitable driving element. In some embodiments, the airfoil element or elements act to mechanically couple the motion of an armature attached to the driver to the surrounding air, producing sound waves in a more efficient manner than typical acoustic transducer devices. Embodiments of the invention may be used in the design of loudspeakers, earpieces, headphones, and other devices for which a high efficiency transducer is desired.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 2011Date of Patent: August 12, 2014Assignee: AliphComInventor: Thomas A.
