Abstract: Embodiments include a device comprising a pipe having at least one section that spans between a first end and a second end of the pipe. The pipe has a cylindrical cross-section. The device comprises a receptacle positioned in the pipe a first distance from the first end and a second distance from the second end. The receptacle receives an electronic device having microphones that are to be calibrated and secures the microphones a third distance inside an inside surface of the pipe. The device comprises an adapter connected to the first end. The adapter connects a loudspeaker to the pipe. The pipe controls an acoustic energy experienced by the plurality of microphones so that each microphone of the plurality of microphones receives equivalent acoustic energy.
Abstract: Techniques for respiratory and metabolic monitoring in mobile devices, wearable computing, security, illumination, photography, and other applications may use a phosphor-coated broadband white LED to produce broadband light, which may be transmitted along with ambient light to a target (e.g., ear, face, wrist, or the like). Some scattered light returning from a target may be passed through a spectral filter to produce multiple detector regions sensitive to a different waveband and/or wavelength range, and the detected light may be analyzed to determine a measure of a respiratory rate or effort. In the absence of LED light, ambient light may be sufficient illumination for analysis. The disclosed techniques may provide identifying features of type or status of a tissue target (e.g., respiratory rate, heart rate, heart rate variability, heart function, lung function, fat content, hydration status, confirmation of living tissue, and the like).
Abstract: An application (APP) executing in a processor of a host device, may receive an electronic message (EM) that may include a handle for an address associated with the host device or a user of the host device, and a data payload that identifies content to be played back on a media device in communication (e.g., wirelessly) with the host device. An electronic messaging service may receive EM's addressed to the handle and may broadcast (e.g., wirelessly) the EM's. EM's received by the host device may be parsed by the APP to extract the handle and data payload. Data in the data payload may be used to search a content source for content to be communicated (e.g., wirelessly) for playback on the media device. Content specified in data payloads of EM's from one or more client devices (e.g., smartphones, tablets, pads) may be queued for playback on the media device.

Abstract: Embodiments relate generally to electrical/electronic hardware, computer software, wired and wireless network communications, portable, wearable, and stationary media devices. RF transceivers and/or audio system in each media device may be used to wirelessly communicate between media devices and allow configuration and other data to be wirelessly transmitted from one media device to another media device. The proximity detection system may be configured to detect a presence of a user or multiple users and upon detecting presence, access content on a user device, and record the content while also playing back the content on the media device. One or more user devices in proximity of the media device post detection may wirelessly communicate with the media device and the media device may orchestrate handling of content from those devices or from a wirelessly accessible location such as the Cloud or Internet.
Abstract: Embodiments of the present application relate generally to electrical and electronic hardware, computer software, wired and wireless network communications, Bluetooth systems, RF systems, self-powered wireless devices, and consumer electronic (CE) devices. More specifically the present application relates to provision of networked based services to Bluetooth-enabled devices. The present application describes a very low-cost, multi-purpose, rapidly re-purposable Bluetooth node that may sit at the edge of a network and may be configured to allow a network system to dynamically add and remove different Bluetooth capabilities and allow for a much higher level of management of Bluetooth devices that are interacting with the network.
