This dual grid design separates the two catalysts, and enables the catalysts to be independent of each other. Any interruption in the primary or the secondary catalyst does not impede or adversely impact on the structure or function of the other catalyst.
Abstract: A reverse catenary muffle, and method of forming same, includes a planar lower surface, and first and second sidewalls extending upwardly in parallel relation from opposite, first and second edges, respectively, of the lower surface. A concave arch-shaped upper surface extending from upper ends of the first and second sidewalls wherein upper portions of the arch-shaped upper surface are defined at an interconnection of the upper surface with the sidewalls, and a central portion of the upper surface spaced from the lower surface.

Abstract: A gas seal for a bell-type annealing furnace is described. A ring supported by the furnace cover and a resilient pad supported by the base mate to form a gas seal when the cover is rested on the base. A cover-supported cooling jacket and a base-supported cooling jacket cooperate to enclose the seal when the cover is rested on the base. Load bearing structure is provided independent of the seal elements to avoid subjecting the seal elements to the weight of the furnace cover.
