  • Patent number: 4023104
Abstract: A system is provided incorporating a combining network for receiving television signals corresponding to the different television channels and for combining these signals for transmission over a cable. A plurality of input circuits is connected to the combining network, each circuit receiving a television signal of a different channel. Each input circuit includes a diode network for deriving a DC voltage level proportional to the television signal applied thereto. A calibration resistor is connected in series with the diode network and provides a means for connection to a meter for indicating a relative signal level. The combining network output is connected through an attenuator, a coupler and a power inserter to an amplifier, the output of which provides an appropriately amplified combined signal for application to a CATV trunk line.

  • Patent number: 3983417
Abstract: An rf level sensing circuit is described incorporating a pair of oppositely poled back diodes for receiving an rf signal. The diodes are connected to the two base inputs of a differential amplifier. A voltage divider comprising three series connected resistors is connected across a voltage supply. The junction of the first two resistors is connected to one of the bases and the junction of another two of the resistors is connected to one side of one of the back diodes. The collectors of the transistors are connected to the bases of a pair of complementary transistors which in turn drive the base of an output transistor. The collector of the output transistor is connected through a conventional diode to an output terminal; a parallel network comprising a capacitor and a resistor is connected between an output terminal side diode and ground.

  • Patent number: 3983486
Abstract: A CATV system is described wherein distribution cables are provided with amplifying means spaced at uniform intervals therealong. The amplifiers are provided with an input tap and two output taps, the first of which provides the usual gain to provide an output level equal to the input level plus the attenuation suffered by the signal traversing the cable from the preceding amplifier. The second output is provided by each amplifier by tapping the output signal at the first output tap with a directional coupler and processing the signal through an equalizer and coupling the output of the equalizer through a second directional coupler to a second output terminal. The signal derived at the second output terminal is such that a second identical amplifier connected to it will produce in its first output the signal levels required in the feeder system, when the first amplifier is operated at the signal levels appropriate for the main trunk system.

  • Patent number: 3978422
Abstract: A broadband automatic gain control amplifier is described incorporating a plurality of gain control loops, each responsive to signal levels at the output of the amplifier at different frequencies for developing a control signal to correct the output signal level simultaneously at that frequency and at other frequencies. Each of the gain control loops providing unique gain-frequency characteristic with respect to the other gain control loops.

  • Patent number: 3973214
Abstract: A circuit comprising the first stage of a multi-stage amplifier is described, incorporating a plurality of networks connected between the input stage transistor emitter and ground. The networks are connected in parallel; each comprises a series resonant circuit, the resonant frequencies and component values of which have been chosen to provide wideband impedance-matching to the base of the transistor while achieving a low noise figure.
