  • Publication number: 20110038733
Abstract: A blade for a rotating thermal machine, such as a stator blade for a low-pressure turbine of a gas turbine with sequential combustion, includes a blade airfoil which extends essentially in the radial direction, is exposed to circumflow by an operating medium in a flow direction, and is delimited by a leading edge and a trailing edge in the flow direction. The concurring fluidic and constructional demands on the blade with sharp inclination of the flow are met by the blade airfoil being structured in such a way that an angle which the flow lines form with the trailing edge of the blade airfoil deviates from a right angle within a limited range.

  • Publication number: 20110036094
Abstract: A system and way for controlling a gas turbine engine in the event of a partial or full load rejection from a generator is disclosed. Upon detection of a partial or full load rejection, the fuel flow of the combustor is directed to a secondary circuit of a secondary fuel nozzle to maintain a flame in a downstream chamber of the combustor. By maintaining the flame in the downstream chamber while the engine speed is controlled, the recovery process to a load condition avoids use of spark ignition system and flame detectors in the upstream chamber.

  • Patent number: 7888837
Abstract: A rotor for a generator includes a cylindrical rotor body with axial winding slots which are arranged in a distributed manner over the circumference and in which are arranged conductor elements which extend in the axial direction. A cooling medium from a sub-slot which is arranged at the bottom of the winding slot is fed along the axis in periodic intervals to the conductor elements. Beneath the conductor elements provision is made for ripple springs which in each case press the conductor elements of a winding slot against a slot wedge which closes off the winding slot at the top. With such a rotor, an adequate spring force is achieved by the ripple springs being arranged at the bottom of the sub-slot and, via an axial profile which is arranged in the sub-slot, acting by their spring force upon the conductor elements which lie above them.

  • Patent number: 7886540
Abstract: A combustor liner for use in a gas turbine engine includes a first liner section and a second liner section. They are joined together by welding or a mechanical fixing along a common join line or weld. A heat shield extends along the join line to protect it from the high temperatures and thermal stresses that are experienced by the combustor liner during the operation of the gas turbine engine. The heat shield is spaced apart from the joint line to define a passage between the heat shield and the first and second liner sections for the introduction of a cooling fluid such as air. The heat shield and the exposed surfaces of the liner sections are coated with a thermal barrier coating.

  • Publication number: 20110023487
Abstract: In a method for controlling a waste heat recovery steam generator of the once-through steam generator type in a combined cycle power plant, the flow volume of the feedwater into the steam generator is controlled based on a measured steam temperature at the outlet of a superheater and on a set-point value for the steam temperature for a steam turbine. A degree of superheating at the outlet of a high-pressure evaporator, a degree of subcooling at the inlet into the high-pressure evaporator, and the measured current flow volume of the feedwater are integrated in the control system in a plurality of control steps. For an optimum operation during rapid load changes, the method especially comprises additional controlling of the degree of subcooling of the flow medium at the inlet into the high-pressure evaporator.

  • Publication number: 20110012637
Abstract: A method and an apparatus are described for detection of interlaminar laminate shorts in the laminated stator core of electrical machines, in which the laminated stator core (4) is subjected to an externally applied field current (2) or field voltage (V), and the short-circuit magnetic field (Bshort) induced by short-circuit currents (5) is measured with the assistance of a sensor coil (S1) which is arranged in the gap in the machine and probes this gap. Improved identification of laminate shorts, in particular even of small laminate shorts with small short-circuit currents, is possible in that a field current (2) and a field voltage (V) are applied which have a waveform which differs significantly from a sinusoidal shape, in particular with a periodic character, and have significant harmonic components in the high frequency range. By way of example, a waveform in the form of a square-wave curve is proposed.

  • Publication number: 20110005054
Abstract: A method and device are provided to accurately align a machine component of generally circular cross-section within a surrounding machine casing that includes bottom and top halves of the casing. The bottom half and top half, in use, are bolted together at a split line occupying a horizontal plane.
