Abstract: An ultrasonic probe carrier includes a base, a first side arm having a first end thereof attached to the base and a second end thereof extending outwardly from the base on one side of a tube, and a second side arm having a first end thereof attached to the base and a second end thereof extending outwardly from the base on an opposite side of the tube, at least a portion of the first and second side arms being biased towards each other to removably secure the carrier around at least a portion of a circumference of the tube. An ultrasonic probe is attached to the base, and the carrier and ultrasonic probe are rotatable around the tube to scan at least one of: the circumference of the tube and a weld disposed around the circumference of the tube.
Abstract: The invention pertains to fluegas recirculation in gas turbines, and specifically to an intake section upstream of the inlet of a compressor of a gas turbine unit with fluegas recirculation. The intake section includes at least one section with a flow path defined by sidewalls in which the fresh airflow of the intake air is flowing along a principal airflow direction, including at least one mixing duct extending into the flow path from at least one sidewall. The mixing duct includes an intake at the at least one sidewall for receiving recirculated fluegas, as well as including at least one outlet opening distanced from said sidewall for blowing recirculated fluegas out of the mixing duct into the airflow.

Abstract: The erosion-prone sections of the tubes in a circulating fluidized bed boiler are provided with a locally thickened sidewall without forming discontinuities on the outer surface of the tubes. This can be accomplished, for example, by replacing the erosion prone portion of the tube with a section having a smaller inside diameter, but the same outside diameter, or by replacing the erosion prone portion of the tube with a section having a thicker sidewall, but the same inside diameter, and smoothing over the outside discontinuity with an alloy coating. A useful alloy coating is also disclosed which can be used for this and other applications.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an on-load tap changer control method for a power excitation chain. The chain includes a generator, a step-up transformer equipped with an on-load tap changer and connected on the one hand to the output of said generator and on the other hand to a transmission bus, and an excitation control system comprising a generator automatic voltage regulator (AVRG) and at least one excitation limiter (OELG, UELG). The method includes monitoring the excitation conditions of the generator, activating said at least one excitation limiter (OELG, UELG) when the monitored excitation conditions are outside a predefined range, inhibiting temporarily the change of step of said on-load tape changer.

Abstract: A gas cleaning system including a wet scrubber (14) for removal of sulphur dioxide from a gas and an oxidation basin system (42) for receiving effluent generated in the removal of sulphur dioxide from the process gas. The oxidation basin system (42) comprises an oxidation basin (43) for containing the effluent during treatment thereof, an oxygen supply system (47) for supplying oxygen to the effluent in the oxidation basin (43), and a contacting system for bringing the effluent into contact with an enzyme which catalyses the oxidation of bisulphite and/or sulphite ions.
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method and an arrangement for expanding a gas stream comprising carbon dioxide, CO2. The method includes: removing CO2 from a process gas to produce a CO2 lean gas stream comprising residual CO2; monitoring a temperature of the gas stream downstream of an expander; controlling a pressure of the gas stream downstream of the expander by means of a pressure controller; and overriding the pressure controller when the temperature downstream of the expander is below a predefined minimum temperature; whereby deposition of solid CO2 from the residual CO2 in the gas stream is avoided. The disclosure also relates to a gas cleaning system and a power plant, such as an oxy-combustion power plant, associated with the arrangement.
Abstract: In a power plant which is equipped with a gas turbine, fuel for the gas turbine is preheated by means of solar heat. The preheating is realized through the use of a heat transfer circuit. The use of an additional, second heat transfer circuit between the source for the solar heat and the first heat transfer circuit permits storage of the solar heat. The fuel preheating according to the invention permits in particular an increase in the efficiency of the power plant.

Abstract: A process and an apparatus are described, which remove acid gas from a gas stream in a manner that generates a product gas stream at a higher temperature while consuming less energy than the existing technology. The process requires maintaining a positive product gas temperature differential. The apparatus enables the positive gas temperature differential to be maintained by manipulating the absorber column operating conditions and/or the solvent chemistry to increase the amount of absorption and reaction in the absorber.

Abstract: A flue gas cooler 11 for cooling raw, hot flue gas from an electric arc furnace of an iron and steel production plant is provided. Each flue gas cooler 11 has a gas inlet chamber 14, a gas outlet chamber 16, and a matrix of gas cooling tubes 18 extending between and into the inlet chamber and the outlet chamber. Each gas cooling tube 18 has a bell-shaped inlet end 19 comprising an aerodynamically curved gas-accelerating profile effective to facilitate streamlined flow of flue gas into the gas cooling tube. The flue gas cooler makes it possible to receive flue gas directly from an electric arc furnace without getting clogged by dust and sublimates present in the flue gas.
