  • Patent number: 7189070
Abstract: A device for impregnating an insulation of a winding bar of an electric machine includes a container accommodating the winding rod and connected to a tank containing an impregnation agent. The container, which remains open during the impregnation process, is surrounded by an evacuation container to create a negative pressure within the container. To achieve a more rapid penetration of the impregnation agent and to simplify the overall process, a vacuum-tight sleeve acts as the container, the sleeve being encompassed by a pressure-resistant sleeve, and a conduit of an assembly that generates a vacuum leads into the interior of the sleeve. The impregnation agent is supplied with a pressure that is lower than the prevailing pressure in the pressure-resistant sleeve. The container can be a multi-part tool defining an interior for surrounding and accommodating the winding bar in a positive fit at least during an evacuation and impregnation process.

  • Patent number: 6857849
Abstract: A membrane seal includes a pair of confronting annular sealing grooves. A first annular sealing member is received in one of the oppositely facing sealing grooves and a second annular sealing member is received in the other of the oppositely facing sealing grooves. The first and second sealing members are sealably connected together by an annular membrane. A pressure difference across the membrane forces the first and second sealing members into contact with a side wall of each of the oppositely facing sealing grooves to effect a seal. Known sealing members have a circular cross-section but in the present invention at least one of them has an oval cross-section. The oval cross-section gives the first and/or second sealing member(s) a larger zone of contact with the oppositely facing sealing groove(s). This reduces the amount of wear on the first and/or second sealing member(s) and produces a better seal.

  • Patent number: 6813123
Abstract: A method is for protecting a DC generator against overvoltage in the event of a loss of load. A voltage limit value is defined and, when starting the current generator, one or a few small current pulses are generated during an initial phase. The voltage is measured across the output of the current generator during the initial phase and the voltages measured across the output of the current generator are compared with the voltage limit value. There is a changeover to normal operation only if all the voltages across the output of the current generator measured during the initial phase are below the voltage limit value. The current generation is interrupted and a loss of load is indicated if any one of the voltages across the output of the current generator measured during the initial phase exceeds the voltage limit value.
