Publication number: 20040048013Abstract: A process for forming an initial section or like component featuring a hollow interior to a final shape by means of high internal pressure in the sealed hollow interior using a medium that can flow is such that, in order to shape-form the initial section featuring at least one corner region—preferably at least two corner regions—the wall sections adjacent to the corner region are pre-shaped in a curved manner—as viewed in cross-section—counter to the direction of applied pressure, and subsequently re-shaped by applying the high internal pressure of the medium that can flow, displacing the corner region in the direction in which the pressure is applied. To that end a section with hollow space delimited by section walls is employed in which two section walls define each corner region of the section cross-section, whereby at least one of the section walls at the corner region features a region that is curved in cross-section.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 10, 2003Publication date: March 11, 2004Applicant: Alusuisse Technology & Management AGInventors: Markus Gehrig, Christian Leppin, Pius Schwellinger

Patent number: 6517932Abstract: The invention relates to a film composite for packaging purposes. Said film composite efficiently blocks the passage of water vapor and gas after sterilization in a water bath or in water vapor at temperatures of more than 90° C., and comprises a film consisting of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) with a coextruded layer consisting of polyethylene-2,6-naphthalate (PEN) on at least one side. The film has a 10 nm to 200 nm thick ceramic layer on at least one of the sides that are coated with PEN, said layer being produced by vaporizing aluminium while supplying oxygen or by vaporizing silicon monoxide (SiO), optionally while supplying oxygen, in a vacuum. The layer consists of Al2O3 or SiOx, x being a number between 0.9 and 2. The composite film blocks the passage of water vapor and gases to a large extent after sterilization in a water bath or in water vapor at temperatures of more than 90° C.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 2001Date of Patent: February 11, 2003Assignees: Alusuisse Technology & Management AG, Mitsubishi Polyester Film GmbHInventors: Herbert Peiffer, Wolfgang Lohwasser, Richard Lee Davis, Olaf Frei

Publication number: 20020125741Abstract: A process for manufacturing a road-bound, horizontally fitted vehicle body with a roof unit having an outer skin and an inward facing ceiling with a ceiling frame, whereby the roof unit is a unit ready for installation, and a basic structure having longitudinal frames. The ceiling and the outer skin along with the basic structure have joining configurations that mate with each other at mutual places for joining. The process includes the steps of introducing the ceiling frame through an opening in the basic structure for a rear or front window, moving the ceiling frame upwardly into contact with matching configuration points for connection at least one of laterally on the longitudinal frames and on front and rear cross members, fixing the ceiling frame in place, and lowering the ceiling and the ceiling frame followed by the outer skin onto the corresponding matching configuration points for connection to the longitudinal frames laterally and onto the front and rear cross members and securing there permanently.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 1, 2002Publication date: September 12, 2002Applicant: Alusuisse Technology & Management AGInventors: Jochen Wieschermann, Duri Deflorin, Wolfgang Muller

Publication number: 20020113464Abstract: The invention relates to a method for mounting a self-supporting vehicle roof (1) onto a body of a motor vehicle (2). The mounting method according to the invention utilizes a special, self-supporting roof construction of so-called sandwich type, which enables a complete roof (1), comprising both inner roof and outer roof, to be mounted as one of the last components in an assembly line for motor vehicles. After having been mounted, vehicle roofs (1) of the type which is utilized in the method according to the invention will constitute an integrated, load-bearing part of a vehicle body of a motor vehicle.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 1, 2002Publication date: August 22, 2002Applicant: Alusuisse Technology & Management AGInventors: Jochen Wieschermann, Duri Deflorin, Wolfgang Muller

Patent number: 6360576Abstract: In a process for the manufacture of a shaped bar consisting of an at least partially metallic material, a preform is shaped to form the shaped bar in the partially solid/partially liquid state and the shaped bar in the partially solid/partially liquid state is guided through a chilled mould for setting. An optionally heatable preform chamber is provided for receiving the preform, an optionally heatable forming chamber is connected to the preform chamber for shaping the preform to form the shaped bar, and a chilled mold is connected to the forming chamber for the setting of the shaped bar. A die can optionally be arranged immediately downstream of the mould for the final shaping process and the device.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 1999Date of Patent: March 26, 2002Assignee: Alusuisse Technology & Management AGInventors: Miroslaw Plata, Martin Bolliger, Grégoire Arnold, Pius Schwellinger

Patent number: 6337113Abstract: The invention concerns packaging container produced from a composite shaped by cold-forming, the term “packaging containers” including base of lid parts or base and lid parts shaped by cold-forming. The base or lid parts can be shaped by cold-forming, and a lid film or base film, respectively, can form the corresponding closure for the packaging container. In addition, both the base and the lid part can be shaped by cold-forming, the depressions formed in the base and lid parts advantageously lying opposite one another.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 1998Date of Patent: January 8, 2002Assignee: Alusuisse Technology & Management AGInventors: Olivier Yves A. Patent number: 6164360Abstract: The invention concerns a method of producing a laminated composite comprising at least one core layer with at least one covering layer, the layers to be interconnected being assembled in the form of strips and being acted upon with the desired laminating pressure between laminating rollers in the roll gap by adjustment of the gap height. The laminated composite emerging from a first roll gap wrap partially around one of the laminating rollers and is then guided through at least one further roll gap. A suitable laminating mechanism comprises three laminating rollers in an approximately L-shaped mutual arrangement. For technical laminates with traction-resistant covering layers, the removal force of the covering layers can generate by reversal a pressure force on the laminating rollers. The duration of the pressure is increased by the action of the subsequent loops wrapping around the rollers.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 1998Date of Patent: December 26, 2000Assignee: Alusuisse Technology & Management AGInventors: Hanns Watrinet, Urs Gabi
