  • Patent number: 5029672
Abstract: A system for lubricating a plurality of lubricating points in a printing, duplicating or like machine is disclosed. A main reservoir is provided for containing lubricating fluid. A distributor is located on the machine above the lubricating points and has a plurality of metering reservoirs, with an overflow passage from each metering reservoir, and a gravity feed line from each metering reservoir to a receptive one of the lubricating points. A pump is provided for pumping lubricating fluid from the main reservoir through a supply line to the distributor for filling the metering reservoirs and with excess fluid overflowing the metering reservoirs through the overflow passages. The pump is periodically actuated and deactuated to periodically fill the metering reservoirs.

  • Patent number: 4773327
Abstract: An ink metering blade to control the thickness of an ink film along a fountain roll in a printing press. The blade has a plurality of metering segments which are movable relative to each other by flexing the blade. The flexible construction of the blade is promoted by having slots separating metering segments. The slots are filled by seal members which block a flow of ink through the slots. The seal members are ineffective to transmit force between metering segments of the blade to enable the positions of the metering segments to be accurately adjusted relative to each other. The seal members have a narrow seal section which is disposed in the space between the metering segments and a relatively wide mounting section which is disposed beneath a metering segment. The mounting section may be connected with a metering segment by adhesive. However, a second or backing blade or member may be used to hold the seal members in place.

  • Patent number: 4612269
Abstract: A process of preparing a lithographic printing master is presented utilizing electrophotographic principles. As a result of the high density, low background images which can be developed using the disclosed novel developer composition, a high quality lithographic master can be fabricated. The novel developer comprises a low melt viscosity polyamide resin composition, a magnetic oxide component and a conductive carbon pigment.

  • Patent number: 4569284
Abstract: A sheet handling mechanism for use in a duplicating machine for duplicating images on both sides of copy sheets including a first printing couple for transferring a first image to a first side of a copy sheet and a second printing couple for transferring a second image to a second side of the sheet. The sheet handling mechanism includes a conveyor movable between the first and second printing couples. Gripper mechanism are operatively associated with the conveyor for gripping the lead end of a copy sheet issuing from the first printing couple and rotating the sheet about an axis generally parallel to the direction of movement of the conveyor to present the second side of the sheet, lead end first, to the second printing couple.

  • Patent number: 4512255
Abstract: A sheet handling mechanism for use in a duplicating machine for duplicating images on both sides of copy sheets including a first printing couple, having an impression cylinder, for transferring a first image to a first side of a copy sheet and a second printing couple for transferring a second image to a second side of the sheet. Mechanism directs each sheet issuing from the impression cylinder in a path away from the first printing couple. Mechanism engages a lead end of each sheet issuing from the directing mechanism and diverts each sheet generally transversely out of the path toward a reversing station. Re-feeding mechanism at the reversing station engages the lead end of the sheet and re-feeds the sheet, trail end first, back into the path whereby the trail end becomes a new lead end of the sheet. Transport mechanism engages the new lead end and transports the sheet toward the second printing couple.
