Patent number: 7037011Abstract: A tape ribbon cartridge and method are provided for regulating printer operation of a printer operative to transmit a download signal. The cartridge includes a housing, an ink ribbon, and a data communication component. The ink ribbon is disposed within the housing. The data communication component is disposed upon the housing and includes operational information being representative of at least one attribute of the ink ribbon. The data communication component is operative to receive the download signal and to provide the operational information to the printer in response thereto. The operational information is receivable by the printer and is utilizable to determine the printer operation.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 2005Date of Patent: May 2, 2006Assignee: Amano Cincinnati, Inc.Inventors: Scott T. Patent number: 6956474Abstract: This invention describes a method and a system that is used to provide a list of personnel who were present in a building or area that has been evacuated due to an emergency, such as a fire or earthquake. The monitor stores data from a time clock or access control system in parallel with a separate server. The monitor is portable and can be taken out of the building. The monitor can be connected to central alarm monitoring company, who can act as a backup system with the ability to provide the data to a responding fire department. The portable unit can display the names, communicate the data to other display devices including printers.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 2002Date of Patent: October 18, 2005Assignee: Amano Cincinnati, Inc.Inventor: Peter Jakubowski

Patent number: 6904842Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for adaptively controlling printer functions of a dot matrix printer in response to sensing the type of printer ink cartridge being used. An identifying resistive value is applied to surface of the cartridge and installed within the printer. The printer includes contacts that include sensors and sensor circuitry useful to detect a presence of the resistive indicator and the resistive value thereof. The sensed resistive value is used to directly control printer functions, and/or to access stored data or printer control routines specific to the type of cartridge, or desired performance characteristics. Stored information, which may be appended by other sensed information such as printer usage data, is used to selectively regulate printer operation to achieve maximum efficiency and performance from the particular ink cartridge.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 2004Date of Patent: June 14, 2005Assignee: Amano Cincinnati, Inc.Inventors: Peter Jakubowski, Frank Benna

Patent number: 6548986Abstract: Battery back up system is disclosed for powering a wall transformer when a power supply failure occurs. The system comprises a back up battery connectable to the wall transformer to provide power to the device powered by the wall transformer, upon a power interruption. The system may include an adaptor into which the backup battery and wall transformer may be connected. The adaptor may be connected to a conventional AC power source. Other embodiments of the invention allow a backup battery to be directly connected to the wall transformer.Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 2001Date of Patent: April 15, 2003Assignee: Amano Cincinnati, Inc.Inventor: Peter Jakubowski

Patent number: 6487818Abstract: An automated parking gate structure is disclosed having enhanced safety features for deterring accidents and providing greater protectibility against damage in the event the gate arm strikes a vehicle. The parking gate comprises a base cabinet, a control mechanism disposed within the cabinet, and a gate arm connected to the cabinet, adapted for motion relative thereto in response to operation of the control mechanism. A first light element is disposed along a first surface of the gate arm. The light element being in communication with the control mechanism to regulate operation of the light element in response to operational modes of the gate control mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 2001Date of Patent: December 3, 2002Assignee: Amano Cincinnati, Inc.Inventors: James D.
