Publication number: 20250139083Abstract: A materialized view management service (MVMS) is capable of monitoring resource allocation changes of a source data object at a source data store and responsively generating resource change alerts to the owner of a target data object (the materialized view) in the target data store. Resource allocation changes may include autoscaling changes to the source data object's partition scheme, throughput limit, storage limit, and the like. The MVMS generates resource change alerts in response to these detected events and pushes the alerts to interested subscribers. Depending on the embodiment, the alerts may be pushed to human administrators, or the target data store itself, which may be configured to automatically adjust the resource allocation of the target data object to match the source data object. Advantageously, the disclosed alerts allow view owners to gain real time visibility of resource auto-scaling at the data source and appropriately react to such changes.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 2, 2025Publication date: May 1, 2025Applicant: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Akshat Vig, Sharatkumar Nagesh Kuppahally, Bradley James Curran

Patent number: 12289209Abstract: A system is described that combines outputs of network simulations, which are used for capacity planning, with empirical data of network element failure probabilities, to produce what traffic utilization is needed for each network device interface to achieve a specified availability target. Utilization of each interface can be captured for each failure case simulated. From this failure data, the utilization distribution for each link can be produced, across all failure cases. This utilization-by-failure data from simulation is combined with the empirical mean-time between failure (MTBF) and mean-time to recovery (MTTR) of each failure from the span reliability data set. This allows for a prediction of what percentage of time the interface is utilized. Thus, a relationship is established between the capacity provisioned and the percentage of time that the capacity will be uncongested. Network devices can then be added to the network to establish the availability target.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2023Date of Patent: April 29, 2025Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: John William Evans, Ahmed Elmokashfi

Publication number: 20250130980Abstract: An event deduplication system may efficiently perform event deduplication (identifying “new” or “unique” events that might be an anomaly) by using a first stage that has multiple first stage processes running in parallel (e.g., at different data centers) and a single second stage that has a second stage process that receives and processes events from the different first stage processes. The second stage process updates a global state (e.g., lookup table) and periodically publishes the global state to the first stage processes to update their local state. When the second stage process receives a possible new event from a first stage process, it may more accurately determine whether the event is actually a new event based on the global state.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 13, 2024Publication date: April 24, 2025Applicant: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Karl Eric Anderson, Jacob A. Publication number: 20250131317Abstract: A system and method for providing quantum entanglement-as-a-service and simultaneously producing verifiably random sequences of numbers are described. When distributing quantum entanglement between customers Alice and Bob, Alice and Bob may exchange information pertaining to a measurement basis that they respectively used when performing measurements using respective halves of entangled particles. When customer Alice, for example, determines that both Alice and Bob have performed a given measurement in a same measurement basis, said result may be used in a quantum key distribution (QKD) code. When customer Alice determines that they have not performed the given measurement in the same measurement basis, Alice may concatenate said portion of the results into a private and verifiable sequence of random numbers. Providing distributed quantum entanglement therefore results in both a QKD code between said customers and in respective private and verifiably random sequences of numbers.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 15, 2023Publication date: April 24, 2025Applicant: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Antia Lamas Linares

Patent number: 12280889Abstract: An aerial vehicle is configured to operate within indoor spaces. The aerial vehicle is programmed with positions of waypoints within three-dimensional space, and to calculate a trajectory for traveling through such waypoints in a manner that minimizes snap of the aerial vehicle. Where a distance between a pair of the waypoints is sufficiently long, the aerial vehicle inserts intervening waypoints for planning purposes, and programs the aerial vehicle to travel at a maximum speed between the intervening waypoints. Upon detecting an obstacle with a first range using one or more sensors, the aerial vehicle reduces its speed and monitors a second, shorter range using the sensors, and compensates for motion between such readings.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2022Date of Patent: April 22, 2025Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Chong Huang, Yibo Cao, Cheng Chen, Yang Liu, Kah Kuen Fu, Tianyang Ma
