Patent number: 5968525Abstract: The invention relates to a method for making an inactivated vaccine of Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae by inactivating the bacteria with Thimerosal. The resulting bacterin is mixed with an adjuvant of aluminum hydroxide and DEAE dextran and injected into pigs. The resulting bacterin and adjuvant mixture can also be mixed with other bacteria such as Bordetella and Pasteurella, for further adjuvant effect. Protective immunity against mycoplasmal pneumonia is elicited in swine using these vaccines.Type: GrantFiled: January 2, 1998Date of Patent: October 19, 1999Assignee: Ambico, Inc.Inventors: Gerald R. Fitzgerald, C. Joseph Welter

Patent number: 5861160Abstract: Isospora suis is propagated using a swine testicular cell line which facilitates production of sporozoites and merozoites, either or both of which can be used in a vaccine for swine. Antibodies against Isospora suis sporozoites, which inhibit the infectivity of the sporozoites for the swine testicular cells, were made. These neutralizing antibodies were used to identify an apparent sporozoite attachment protein and cloned cDNA encoding a portion of the protein. The cloned cDNA was sequenced and the corresponding amino acid sequence of the antigenic sporozoite protein revealed two areas having repeated amino acid sequences, which may likewise be used in a vaccine.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 1995Date of Patent: January 19, 1999Assignee: Ambico, Inc.Inventors: Douglas P. Quick, Mark W. Welter, C. Joseph Welter, Lisa M. Welter, Ann M. Steger

Patent number: 5283172Abstract: Type-C rotavirus are propagated in swine testicular cells with reduced concentrations of proteolytic enzyme for subsequent production of antigen and antiserum for use in diagnostic kits and for killed vaccines to prevent Type C rotavirus infections. Propagation of Type C rotavirus in the ST cells can also lead to virus modification for subsequent use as a modified live virus vaccine to prevent Type C rotavirus infections.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 1992Date of Patent: February 1, 1994Assignee: Ambico, Inc.Inventors: Mark W. Welter, David M. Chambers, C. Joseph Welter

Patent number: 4383735Abstract: A combination photographic filter pack and filter holder attaches to the front of a camera lens and comprises first and second housings, the first housing being connected to the second housing, preferably in a slideable and nesting manner. The first housing defines a storage area for retaining a plurality of photographic filters, and the second housing comprises an arrangement for removable attachment to the front of a camera lens, and a space for slideably receiving filters from the storage area of the first housing and for retaining the received filters in an operative position in registration with a camera lens. Any or all of the filters from the storage area in the first housing can be slid to the operative position within the second housing as desired. The housings also are disengageable for replacement of the filters contained therein. Also disclosed are various filter frames for use with the combination filter pack and filter holder.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 1980Date of Patent: May 17, 1983Assignee: Ambico Inc.Inventor: David M. Patent number: 4302078Abstract: A filter holder having a plurality of slots therein for receiving filters, photographic effect sheets, or the like, and an adapter which is removably retained in one of said slots for threadably engaging a threaded front portion of a photographic lens. A lens cover element is provided which snapingly engages in the filter holder, and a rotatable filter is engaged in the filter holder and retained by the adapter, the filter being rotatable even in its engaged condition. A lens shade is provided which snapingly and removably engages the filter holder.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 1979Date of Patent: November 24, 1981Assignee: Ambico Inc.Inventor: David M. Stravitz

Patent number: 4271999Abstract: A guitar strap connector comprises a body member having a slot for connection of a guitar strap thereto; a generally keyhole-shaped opening in the body member, the keyhole-shaped opening comprising first and second holes having a passageway therebetween, the first hole being larger than the second hole; and a pair of resilient spring-like members integral with the body member and adjacent at least the passageway on respective opposite sides of the passageway, the spring-like members being bowed toward each other and each having a respective void space therebehind to permit the spring-like members to flex away from each other into the void spaces to permit a button connector of a guitar to be passed from the larger hole resiliently through the passageway and into the smaller hole wherein the button connector is engaged. Preferably, the body member is integrally formed of resilient plastic material such as polypropylene.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 1979Date of Patent: June 9, 1981Assignee: Ambico Inc.Inventor: David M. Patent number: 4205895Abstract: A collapsible lens shade comprises a foldable bellows connected between front and second plate-like members. A track member is pivotally connected to one of the front and rear plate-like members, preferably the front member, and locking means is provided for locking the track in a position extending from the member to which it is pivotally connected. Slide means is coupled to the other of the front and rear members to permit same to slide along the length of the track member when the track member is in its extended, locked position, and second locking means is provided for locking the slide means at selected positions along the length of the track means. Replaceable adaptors are preferably provided to enable the lens shade to be used with lenses of various barrel diameters. Also, means for inserting filters or other special effect plates is provided, as well as a flash or accessory shoe.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 1978Date of Patent: June 3, 1980Assignee: Ambico Inc.Inventors: Carl Yurdin, Carmel S. Patent number: 4138689Abstract: A photographic tray having inwardly turned upper edges, ribs along the lower surface thereof for making the tray more rigid and upwardly sloping bottom surface portions on which the tray may be rocked to agitate a liquid located therein is fabricated as a single, unitary structure by blow molding techniques. The tray is also provided with a pouring spout and with a specially designed molded-in portion for resting a thermometer in the tray so that it will not be dislodged or otherwise inadvertently moved. The tray is fabricated as a closed container by blow molding, and a major surface is then cut off, for example, by sawing, routing, or any other suitable method to arrive at the resultant tray.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 1976Date of Patent: February 6, 1979Assignee: Ambico Inc.Inventor: Anthony P.
