  • Publication number: 20150344210
Abstract: The present invention discloses a self-venting package (6) for packing a food preparation and warming it up comprising at least one flexible film forming a first wall comprising a sealant layer (9) and a support layer (10), said flexible film being sealed by a peripheral seal (4) onto a second wall or on itself, thereby forming a main enclosure confining the food preparation; a rupturable seal (3) isolating a venting hole (1) from said main enclosure, said rupturable seal being arranged for opening, in use, a path to the venting hole upon internal pressure increase in said main enclosure, characterised in that a specific region (5) of the rupturable seal is weakened by means of a welded area with a reduced sealant layer thickness, said welded area guiding, in use, the rupture of said rupturable seal to the venting hole.

  • Publication number: 20140127437
Abstract: The present invention is related to a peelable film to be sealed on a polyester-based substrate comprising a coextraded multilayer structure comprising:—a rupturable polyester-based sealant layer;—an adhesive layer in contact with said rupturable layer, comprising a polymer selected from the group consisting of ionomers, maleic anhydride grafted polyolefin, EVA, EBA, EMA and EAA;—a gas-barrier layer in contact with said adhesive layer, comprising a gas-barrier polymer selected from the group consisting of EVOH and polyamide, characterised in that the average peel strength between the adhesive layer and the rupturable sealant layer is lower than 15 N/15 mm, preferably lower than 13 N/15 mm as measured in a 180° peel geometry.

  • Patent number: 8056716
Abstract: The present invention relates to a tamper-evident push-through packaging secured against fraudulent reuse comprising: —a polymer base web (1) comprising at least one pocket; —a multilayer lidding film (2) covering said pocket, said multilayer lidding film (2) comprising on its seal side a coextruded polymer film, said coextruded polymer film comprising a push-through polymer layer (3) sealed on the base web by a permanent seal and a peelable protective polymer layer (4), the polymers of both layers (3,4) being incompatible and in direct contact with each other, without interlayer, the adhesion between said push-through polymer layer (3) and said peelable protective polymer layer (4) being lower than the seal strength between said polymer base web (1) and said push-through polymer layer (3), wherein, in use, the push-trough layer leaves a seal seam (6), after removing the part of the push-trough layer (3) covering the pocket and wherein said protective layer (4) cannot be resealed by a heat sealing process on

  • Publication number: 20110179754
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for the production of a self-venting packaging for use in heating a food item in a microwave oven, said packaging comprising a rupturable valve seal (3), said rupturable valve seal comprising an inside-inside seal, creating a weak point on said packaging, suitable to break in case of overpressure inside the packaging, said method comprising the following subsequent steps: providing an open plastic packaging; filling said packaging with a food item; —sealing the plastic packaging to obtain a closed pack via a closing seal with the food item therein ready to be sterilised; heat treating said food item; providing a rupturable valve seal (3) on the pack by ultrasound seal technology.
