Patent number: 10912660Abstract: In a method of making a breast prosthesis for use by a wearer having a body temperature, a plurality of dissolvable beads is placed into an open back of a breast-shaped mold. The open back of the mold is sealed. A suspension of an uncured silicone rubber liquid and a plurality of phase change material pellets is injected into the mold around the beads. The uncured silicone rubber is allowed to cure, thereby forming a breast shape. The phase change material has a latent heat of fusion at a melting point so as to remove heat from the wearer when the body temperature is at least at the melting point. The breast shape is removed from the mold and the dissolvable beads are dissolved from the breast shape.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 2019Date of Patent: February 9, 2021Assignee: American Breast Care, LPInventors: Robert Halley, Amanda Wollnick, Joachim Rechenberg

Publication number: 20160256295Abstract: A breast prosthesis includes a plurality of films, including: a first film, a second film, a third film and a fourth film. An interior weld seals the second film to the third film so as to define an interior chamber between a portion of the second film and a portion of the third film, which is filled with a gas. A peripheral weld that has a shape of a breast form footprint seals the first film, the second film, the third film and the fourth film. The peripheral weld is spaced apart from and outside of the interior weld, so as to define a first chamber between the first film and the second film. One of the welds defines a second chamber between the third film and the fourth film. The first chamber and the second chamber are filled with a second resilient material.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 12, 2016Publication date: September 8, 2016Applicant: American Breast Care, LPInventors: Amanda Wollnick, Robert Halley

Publication number: 20150190244Abstract: A breast prosthesis includes a first layer with two films that are sealed together peripherally that define a front chamber. A second layer includes two films that are sealed together peripherally that define a back chamber. The second layer is adjacent to the first layer and defines a pocket therebetween. A portion of a peripheral edge of the second layer is sealed to a portion of a peripheral edge of the first layer to define a first opening so that the pocket defined between the first layer and the second layer opens to the first opening. The first opening and the pocket allow the user to stuff a material into the pocket through the first opening. A first silicone rubber is disposed in the front chamber and is cured in an outer shape of a breast. A second silicone rubber is disposed in the back chamber.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 29, 2014Publication date: July 9, 2015Applicant: AMERICAN BREAST CARE, LPInventor: Robert Halley

Patent number: 8926698Abstract: A breast prosthesis for wearing against a chest of a user includes a bag, a first silicone rubber and a silicone agglomerate putty. The bag includes at least three films that are sealed together around a periphery so as to define at least a front chamber and a back chamber. The first silicone rubber is disposed in the front chamber and is cured in an outer shape of a breast. The silicone agglomerate putty is disposed in the back chamber and is configured as a shear thinning fluid that conforms in shape to surface features of the chest of the user when placed against the chest of the user.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 2012Date of Patent: January 6, 2015Assignee: American Breast Care, LPInventors: Amanda Wollnick, Robert Halley

Publication number: 20140020812Abstract: A breast prosthesis that includes an outer first layer, a middle second layer and an inner third layer. The outer first layer includes a first material that has a first firmness. The first firmness allows for a 20 mm to a 25 mm penetration by a cone penetrometer. The first layer has a shape corresponding to a shape of a breast form. The middle second layer is disposed adjacent to the first layer and includes a second material that has a second firmness that is greater than the first firmness. The inner third layer is disposed adjacent to the second layer opposite from the first layer and includes a third material that has a third firmness that is less than the second firmness.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 23, 2013Publication date: January 23, 2014Applicant: AMERICAN BREAST CARE, LPInventor: Joachim Rechenberg

Patent number: 8568640Abstract: A breast prosthesis is adapted to massage a patient's chest so as to encourage circulation of interstitial lymph fluid. A breast form member has a front portion that has a shape corresponding to a human breast and a back portion. A protrusion member extends from the back portion. The protrusion member defines at least one protrusion extending outwardly therefrom. The protrusion is disposed so that when the breast prosthesis held against the patient at a preselected location, the protrusion will massage the preselected location, thereby encouraging circulation of interstitial lymph fluid.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 2010Date of Patent: October 29, 2013Assignee: American Breast Care, LPInventors: Elisabeth C. Tassone, Leslie S. Amick
