    Abstract: A padlock-type security seal that generally includes a U-shaped resilient shackle having two legs and a body having two apertures formed in a first end thereof for insertion of the shackle legs. The apertures are positioned in the first end of the body along two separate offset planes to provide a torsional force to the shackle upon insertion. The torsional force acts on locking elements of the legs to engage the body thereby preventing removal of the shackle. The locking elements are reversibly bent tangs formed at the ends of the shackle legs at offset angles with respect to the plane of the shackle. At least one of the shackle legs preferably includes a bent hinge portion for transferring the torsional force to the locking elements. A locking insert contained within the body engages at least one of the locking elements of the shackle legs under the torsional force to prevent removal of the shackle.

    Abstract: A cable lock comprising a housing having two longitudinal channels extending therethrough, a pocket at one end, and a cable having one end permanently locked within one channel. There is a spring disposed within the other channel, a cap disposed in the pocket to retain the spring and a gripping mechanism slidably disposed within the second channel adjacent the spring. The second channel is tapered toward the end nearest the gripping mechanism. The gripping mechanism is a substantially rectangular device having a plurality of gripping teeth arranged in two rows along its top edge to form a plurality of opposing tooth pairs. The gripping mechanism is also tapered to conform to the tapered channel in which it is disposed. There is a longitudinal concave channel for receiving the other end of the cable disposed on the top surface of the gripping mechanism between each pair of teeth and an angled front surface for leading the other end of cable into longitudinal concave channel.

    Abstract: A tamper-proof seal for sealing a bag or the like is provided. The seal includes a housing having a strap engagement device, and a strap coupled to the housing. The strap engagement device includes a locking member that lockingly engages a surface of the strap when the strap is inserted into the housing. The locking device is movable towards the strap upon an attempt to disengage the strap from the locking means. The strap includes a pair of adjacent protuberances located near the housing. When the strap is tightened about a bag, the protuberances clench the bag material while providing a convenient slot in which a knife can be inserted. A loop member may be coupled to the housing. The loop member includes an opening through which the strap is inserted prior to inserting it within the housing.

    Abstract: A security seal comprises a main body element formed with a passage therein comprising a first portion leading from an entry opening, a second portion leading at an angle from said first portion, and a third portion leading at an angle from said second portion to an outlet opening. One end of an elongate flexible element is fixed to the main body element and the free end of the element is dimensioned to pass into and along said passage. The flexible element is formed along at least a part of its length with apertures adapted to engage with cooperating inclined resiliently flexible projections provided within the second portion of the said passage, the engagement between the projections and apertures being such as to prevent withdrawal of the flexible element from the passage.

    Abstract: The invention is an improvement over my copending application Ser. No. 951,569 filed Oct. 15, 1978 now U.S. Pat. No. 4,223,423, granted Sept. 23, 1980, and relates to a sealing device, which is particularly useful with a receptacle, such as a cloth bank bag for containing money or currency. The sealing device comprises a single strip or band of material made of metal or plastic and formed with teeth or serrations, which extend from one side of the band and includes locking projections engaging with the teeth or serrations in an improved manner for securing the band in its closed position. The locking teeth are stamped, or otherwise formed in the material near one end of the band, so that the other end of the band may be inserted through slits in the band, whereby a number of teeth engage with locking elements when the band is tightened around the neck of the bag.

    Abstract: A sealing device for a receptacle such as a heavy cloth bank bag for containing money or currency in which a single strip or band of material formed of metal or plastic is stamped with projections or serrations extending from one side of the band and wherein a pair of locking projections in the form of raised panels are stamped in the material near one end of the band, so that the other flat end thereof may be inserted through slits formed by the stamped panels, whereby one or preferably more of the serrations are engaged and locked by the edges of the panels when the strip is tightened around the neck of the bag. Movement of the ends of the strips are thereby prevented in a direction which would unlock the seal but is freely permitted in the other direction for the extent of the serrations so that a tight seal may be accomplished.
