Abstract: There are provided gastric cytoprotective exogenously acidified aluminum hydroxide antacid compositions which are formed by acidifying, for example, commercial liquid antacid suspensions containing aluminum hydroxide, antacid powders or solids containing aluminum hydroxide, or aluminum hydroxide gel, to the point where the aluminum hydroxide is solubilized. The solutuions may be formulated into liquid dosage forms or spray dried and formulated into solid dosage forms.

Abstract: An electrode assembly for sensing heart activity and especially heart activity from a fetal epidermis during the birth of a child. A fetal electrode introducer includes a rigid guide tube with an intermediate universal joint which allows the guide tube to be bent at the best angle to accommodate each patient. The intermediate joint allows a smooth transmission of the rotary motion manually applied at a distal handle to drive the electrode into the fetal epidermis.A sliding sleeve covers the fetal electrode to provide a bearing for rotation, protects the electrode from contamination, and also serves as a resistance means to indicate to the user that the assembly has abutted against the fetal epidermis. Such resisting means includes either a detent or lockable system, or a breakable membrane.

Abstract: For suppressing cardiovascular artifact from a respiration signal derived from a patient's transthoracic impedance, an adaptive filtering device determines the patient's heart rate, converts the respiration signal from an analog to digital representation at a rate proportional to the heart rate, and then filters the digital respiration signal such that that portion of the respiration signal having a frequency content at or above the heart rate is most greatly attenuated.

Abstract: In a device for recording information on strip chart paper, a paper tray, paper guide and door having a trench area are positioned relative to one another to inhibit lateral movement of the paper during recordal of the information. The trench area which is located between the paper storage tray and paper guide receives and traps the paper between its walls to ensure that the paper travels along a predetermined path. The paper storage tray is slightly tilted to further ensure that the paper follows the desired path of travel.
