  • Patent number: 5333442
Abstract: A multi-strand nylon rope having improved abrasion resistance is comprised of a plurality of strands. Each strand is comprised of a plurality of yarns wherein each yarn is formed of a predetermined number of filaments. The filaments of each yarn are twisted together to form a yarn of a predetermined size, the twist direction being opposite that of the final ply yarn direction. For a right lay rope a sufficient number of filaments are twisted together in the left or "S" direction to produce a yarn of a predetermined size. Three or more yarns prepared in this manner are then plied or twisted together in the opposite or right direction. The cover for each strand is formed of alternate yarns of standard (i.e. round) and oblong filaments, respectively, the oblong filaments having a modification ratio of three, forming a rope having increased abrasion resistance, a hand and feel that is not stiff or unmanageable and which resists strand-to-strand wet abrasion.

  • Patent number: 5231820
Abstract: A unique rope for use in commercial fishing comprising floating and sinking portions. The sinking portion has blended yarns made up of a blend of first and second non-metallic synthetic filaments in proportions to yield a sinking rope portion having a specific gravity greater than one. The sinking rope portion comprises strands having yarns of substantially the same diameter. The floating portion of the rope is formed by replacing selected ones of the blended yarns in each strand with yarns formed of a material having a specific gravity of less than one. The replacement yarns and the blended yarns are of the same diameter to enhance the integrity and strength of the rope.

  • Patent number: 4641132
Abstract: This circuit includes a DC source in series with a load to be energized, the DC source also being coupled to a constant-current circuit coupled to the input of an output-signal-generating means. The latter produces an output signal in response to the detection by an associated sensor of a changing condition monitored by the sensor. When the signal-generating means detects a change, an SCR coupled to the DC source is turned on thereby by-passing all of the DC from said source around said constant current source. Simultaneously, the signal-generating means causes an associated LED to emit a light signal.

  • Patent number: 4591950
Abstract: An insulating housing has a circuit board mounted on its interior with separate conductive tab end portions of the board protruding outwardly through apertures in the housing. The tab portions have printed thereon conductive parts which connect with selected printed points or components on the board within the housing. Each tab has a hole for a screw in its conductive part so that when a wire is wound around the screw and the screw is tightened, good low-ohmic contact with a designated part of the board is made and the tab is positionally fixed to the housing. Slots between the tabs permit each screw binding post to be electrically insulated from its adjacent post by the interposition of integrally molded perpendicular barriers in the slots.

  • Patent number: 4563869
Abstract: A synthetic plastic rope includes a selected number of first components having a relatively high elongation characteristic and second components whose elongation characteristic is considerably lower. In one form of the invention, the rope has a central core in which the first components are located, and a plurality of surrounding strands principally constituted of second components. In other forms, the rope does not have a core and there are a plurality of strands braided (plaited) or laid (twisted) together primarily consisting of the low elongation components, but having high elongation components distributed substantially symmetrically and which in the aggregate have substantially less mass than the low elongation components.

  • Patent number: 4561320
Abstract: An assembly which involves a ratchet wheel adapted to be rotated by incremental steps to drive a shaft connected thereto. A rotatable pushbutton is mounted through a hole in the chassis and is connected to a rod to which a flexible pawl is mounted parallel to the rod. When the pushbutton is in one rotary position, inward pressure strokes on the pushbutton cause the pawl to engage teeth in one region of the ratchet wheel causing it to move in a clockwise direction. When the pushbutton is rotated 180.degree. to a second rotary position, each inward push on the pushbutton causes the pawl to engage respective teeth in another region of the wheel thereby moving the wheel incrementally one step in a counterclockwise direction.

  • Patent number: 4527938
Abstract: A rail mounted carriage supporting a multishelf press loader is reciprocable between a sheet charger, which loads an individual lay-up of sheet material onto each of the loader shelves, and a multiplaten press for processing such lay-ups. After all of the loader shelves are charged with lay-ups, swingable upright lay-up-centering rods slide all of the lay-ups simultaneously farther onto the loader shelves until the leading edges of the lay-ups abut against movable stops supported adjacent to the leading or press end of the loader. The carriage is moved to the press, and the stops are raised out of edgewise registration with the lay-ups, whereupon all of the shelves and their lay-ups are moved past the raised stops and into the open press between its platens. The stops then are lowered behind the trailing edges of the lay-ups and shifted a short distance into the press to slide the lay-ups farther into the press. The stops hold the lay-ups in the press as the shelves are slid out from beneath the lay-ups.

  • Patent number: 4428444
Abstract: A damping subassembly for a weigh cell or the like comprises a sprocket wheel, a spool-like valve and a perforated piston disc assembled coaxially, the sprocket and the valve being mounted for movement in unison as the sprocket is rotated about its axis. When the sprocket-valve combination is rotated, its axial separation from the perforated disc is varied. The sprocket, valve and perforated disk are mounted to the weighing platform for axial movement in such a way that sprocket, valve and disc move upwardly and downwardly. A fixed-position bracket has an aperture in which a removable dashpot cup is mounted, the aperture and cup also being coaxially mounted relative to the sprocket, valve and piston disc. The valve-piston disc assembly moves axially into the cup through the aperture in the bracket.

  • Patent number: 4410774
Abstract: A timer has a single knob which is normally used to set a desired timing cycle within a given range and also, when pulled out, to set a selected one of a plurality of ranges. When the knob is pulled out, projections formed on the control shaft engage a concentrically-mounted rotatable disc having at least one set of peripheral teeth. These teeth engage a flexible plastic detent formed in the front of the plastic housing of the timer. The rotatable disc is coupled to a reciprocating slider having conductive fingers which engage predetermined pairs of conductive contacts on a circuit board. As the disc rotates and the slider fingers touch different pairs of contacts, different circuit components are actuated thereby changing the range. In one variation of the timer, means are provided for changing the visible decimal point on the dial to correspond to the range selected.
