Patents Assigned to American Polymer Corporation
  • Patent number: 11965113
Abstract: Two-component polycarbonate-based composite products are contemplated in which the composite is formed as the cured reaction product of a polycarbonate polyurethane dispersed within an aqueous colloid along with a coalescent agent, a secondary polymer additive dispersed within the aqueous colloid, and a secondary polymer crosslinker. The aqueous colloidal dispersion may be applied as a coating to a surface that is intended to be coated and subsequently permitted to react and dry, resulting in the formation of a coating at the location at which it is applied. The composite product may be further formulated with additional constituents to be optically clear, glossy, and/or pigmented.

  • Patent number: 7001948
Abstract: A polyurea coating layer is provided, which is the reaction product of an isocyanate composition and an amine composition. The isocyanate composition comprises isocyanate functional compounds selected from a first set of isocyanate compounds having an average isocyanate functionality of at least about 3 and having an equivalent weight of from about 180 to about 240. The first set of isocyanate compounds preferably are at least about 65% of the isocyanate compounds. The isocyanate composition has an average isocyanate functionality of at least about 2.5. The amine composition comprises amine functional compounds selected from a first set of secondary amine compounds having an equivalent weight of from about 200 to about 280 (preferably as about 50 to about 80% of the amine compounds), and a second set of secondary amine compounds having an equivalent weight of from about 30 to about 180 (preferably as about 20 to about 40% of the amine compounds).

  • Patent number: 6312815
Abstract: A system for protecting surfaces and facilitating the removal of unwanted substances therefrom is disclosed, the system including a polymeric coating having a low volatile organics content (VOC) which is safe for the environment, and a cleaner for application to the coating to remove material from the coating, such as graffiti. The coating may be either a water-based epoxy comprising a bisphenol A resin and polyamide resin, or an aliphatic urethane comprising a polymer having reactive sites which react with a isocyanate and an aliphatic isocyanate. The cleaner is suitable for removing all manner of epoxy and urethane based spray paints, indelible inks, industrial chemicals, and the like. The cleaner comprises N-methyl pyrrolidone in a concentration of fifty percent by weight or greater and a surfactant.
