The present embodiments are also directed to compositions of reduced forms of curcuminoid and methods for preparations and use thereof.

Abstract: The present embodiments relate to oral compositions comprising geranylgeraniol and to methods of using and of making said compositions. The oral compositions can be used in, for example, an oral rinse, a toothpaste, mouth spray, chewing gum, or impregnated in a disposable toothbrush. The compositions can be applied to the gum, alveolar jaw bone, tooth, tooth tissue, enamel, oral cavity, or tooth socket for many uses including, but not limited to, promoting gum growth and gum support, wound healing, and oral hygiene. Abstract: Health concerns of the vector-borne diseases, such as, yellow fever, malaria, dengue fever and general discomfort due to insect bites, has encouraged the development of insecticides to kill insects and insect repellents to keep insects away from treated human skin. Annatto extracts as a natural insect repellent and insecticide have many advantages over synthetic such as lower harmful side effects, low resistance, and more environmentally friendly. Annatto extracts containing ishwarane (C15) and geranyl-?-terpinene (C20) have strong mosquito repellency. Annatto extracts containing geranyl-?-terpinene (C20) and geranylgeraniol (C20) have strong larvicidal activity. Annatto extracts with approximately equal C15 and C20 composition have insect repellency, and annatto extracts with mainly C20 composition have larvicidal activity. Annatto extracts have synergistic effects with other natural extracts.

Abstract: A dietary supplement composition provided synergistic effects of xanthorrhizol and tocotrienol on malignancies. A blend of xanthorrhizol and delta tocotrienol achieved 69% growth suppression of melanoma, exceeding the sum of individual effects. In prostate cancer, 90% growth suppression was achieved by a blend of xanthorrhizol and delta tocotrienol; however, the same 90% of growth suppression was achieved by 3-fold xanthorrhizol and 1.8-fold delta tocotrienol respectively, which indicated synergistic impact of the two agents. Mechanisms of action for the anticancer property showed synergism of xanthorrhizol and tocotrienol-mediated cancer growth suppression was attributed to cell cycle arrest, at the G1 phase of cell cycle, and apoptosis. This novel dietary supplement combination of xanthorrhizol to tocotrienol (1:1 to 10:1) may provide benefits to individuals consuming it on a regular or periodic basis.

Abstract: CoQ10 and vitamin E are both lipid-soluble nutrients with redox potential. Tocopherol and/or tocotrienol protect CoQ10 from oxidative damage and reduce ubiquinone in situ. Specifically, vitamin E protects the oxidation of ubiquinol to ubiquinone ex vivo and reduces ubiquinone to ubiquinol in situ. Vitamin Es with higher ratio of tocotrienol-to-tocopherol cause a higher ratio of ubiquinol-to-ubiquinone. Abstract: A source of material known as a byproduct solution of Bixa orellana seed components, which is obtained as an oily material after the bulk of annatto color, is removed from either the aqueous extract or solvent extract of annatto seeds. Further, this byproduct contains a tocotrienol component and a geranylgeraniol component and can be used as a source for the recovery of a tocotrienol component and a geranylgeraniol component.
