Patent number: 10177696Abstract: An embodiment of an apparatus for adjusting a distance between an electrode and a liquid includes a control circuit and a sense circuit. The control circuit is configured to couple an applied calibration signal to the electrode, and to cause a motor to position the electrode a distance from the liquid in response to a sense signal. And the sense circuit is configured to generate the sense signal in response to the applied calibration signal. For example, such an apparatus can be configured for use as part of a system for producing a stable solution of suspended silver. As silver-containing electrodes shorten over time, and as the level of solution changes over time, the apparatus can move the electrodes toward or away from the solution to maintain the respective distance between each electrode and the solution within a range that has been shown to produce a solution of suitable quality.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 2017Date of Patent: January 8, 2019Assignee: American Silver, LLCInventors: John Logan Holladay, Robert J. Patent number: 9192626Abstract: Microbiologically effective silver hydrosol is used to reduce the local level of microorganisms at the site of a dental procedure and to prevent or inhibit their growth during the healing that follows the procedure. Any gingival lesions created by a dental procedure are treated with silver hydrosol in an aqueous gel. Following the procedure the patient's mouth is periodically rinsed several times a day with a solution of silver hydrosol or, more preferably, with a combination of silver hydrosol and hydrogen peroxide. These steps result in a significant reduction in post operative pain and swelling. Overall healing is accelerated by this treatment.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 2009Date of Patent: November 24, 2015Assignee: AMERICAN SILVER, LLCInventors: Andrew J. M. Willoughby, William D. Moeller

Patent number: 8876020Abstract: A sprayable hydrogel wound dressing composed of an aqueous solution of neutralized Carbopol and silver hydrosol of silver nanoparticles electrolytically formed from silver metal without the use or inclusion of organic materials. The hydrogel is sprayed with a physical barrier sprayer system which separates the hydrogel from the propellant. The hydrogel is thixotropic/shear thinning so that the viscosity of the hydrogel is sufficient reduced in the sprayer to allow spray formation and regains sufficient viscosity to resist running when deposited on a vertical surface.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2011Date of Patent: November 4, 2014Assignee: American Silver LLCInventors: Robert J. Holladay, Nathan R. Moeller, William D. Moeller

Patent number: 8753691Abstract: We disclose a colorless composition comprising silver particles and water, wherein said particles comprise an interior of elemental silver and an exterior of ionic silver oxide, wherein the silver particles are present in the water at a level of about 5-40 ppm, and wherein the composition manifests significant antimicrobial properties including antiviral properties. Methods of use of the composition are described.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 2006Date of Patent: June 17, 2014Assignee: American Silver, LLCInventors: Robert J. Holladay, William D. Moeller
