  • Patent number: 7340863
Abstract: A one-piece rain gutter and leaf guard apparatus is formed from a single sheet of aluminum. The rain gutter includes a formed trough portion that has a conventional scalloped front aesthetic appearance with a generally vertical back wall and a smooth bottom floor. The leaf guard portion is integrally formed with the trough portion and includes a 180 degree fold that permits generally vertical movement of the leaf guard portion relative to the trough portion. A rear reinforcement flange is formed to project above the trough and leaf guard for mounting of the gutter to the facing board of the roof soffit below the drip edge of the roof. The front edge of the leaf guard is connected to the forward edge of the trough portion by detachable fasteners to provide a rigid support to the forward edge of the gutter trough along the entire length of the gutter.

  • Patent number: 7174677
Abstract: A snow guard for a shingled roof in which the flat attachment strap positionable between layers of shingles has mounted thereon a detachable mounting bracket that projects upwardly from the attachment strap. The body portion of the mounting bracket has a wedge-shaped receptacle on the top surface to mount devices such as a snow guard attachment, which can be locked into place on the mounting bracket by a threaded fastener that passes through the mounting bracket into the base of the snow guard attachment. The snow guard attachment can be easily replaced with aesthetically different snow guard members or a snow fence that spans across several aligned mounting brackets.

  • Patent number: 7127852
Abstract: A mounting bracket attaches implements and other devices to the top surface of an inclined raised seam roof structure. The mounting bracket is formed with a body portion defining a wide cavity between opposing side walls to accommodate a variety of different sizes and shapes of raised seam configurations. A pair of opposing clamping jaws are disposed within the body cavity. One clamping jaw is fixed to a side of the body member, while the other clamping jaw is movably mounted to a threaded fastener that advances the movable clamping jaw toward the fixed clamping jaw and grip a raised seam structure therebetween. The body portion has a wedge-shaped receptacle on the top surface to mount devices such as a snow guard, which can be locked into place on the mounting bracket by a threaded fastener.

  • Patent number: 6035587
Abstract: A drip edge for use on a building roof for directing water off of the roof, away from the building and, preferably, into a gutter is provided. The drip edge includes a planar body portion which is positioned under the roofing shingles. An open throat portion, which is substantially U-shaped, can fit over an existing protruding drip edge. A downwardly extending leg portion has a lower flexible section which ends in an outwardly directed foot portion. The drip edge can be installed over an existing drip edge, allowing retrofit of the new drip edge. The drip edge can be used with a variety of gutter designs. The drip edge prevents water from getting between the fascia and the gutter inner wall, protecting the building from water damage and the gutter from damage due to ice accumulation, for example.
