  • Patent number: 10815707
Abstract: A method of operating a window having a sash and a window opening limit device includes moving the sash from a closed position to a limited position. When in the limited position, the window opening limit device is in a projected position, and the sash is engaged with the window opening limit device. Moving the window opening limit device to a retracted position disengages the sash and the window opening limit device. The sash may then be moved from the limited position to an open range. When the sash is returned to the closed position, the window opening limit device automatically returns to the projected position, and the sash is disengaged with the window opening limit device.

  • Patent number: 10563440
Abstract: An inverted constant force window balance system includes a carrier assembly and a mounting bracket. The carrier assembly includes a housing, a coil spring disposed within the housing, and a shoe assembly coupled to the housing. The shoe assembly is configured to receive a pivot bar from a window sash and extend at least one brake upon rotation of the pivot bar. The mounting bracket is releasably coupled to the housing opposite the shoe assembly and is coupled to the free end of the coil spring. At least a portion of the mounting bracket is configured to slideably move in relation to the free end of the coil spring between at least two positions. • Patent number: 10557300
Abstract: An access system for a structure includes a control box mounted within a controlled access space of the structure and operatively coupled to a door panel operator that opens and closes a door panel of the structure for access to the controlled access space. The control box is configured to detect a presence of a security device relative to the control box, determine a position of the security device relative to the structure, and determine an authorization of the security device. The access system also includes a user interface mounted in an uncontrolled access space of the structure and coupled in communication with the control box. Upon actuation of the user interface, the control box operates the door panel operator when the security device is positioned proximate the control box, located in the uncontrolled access space of the structure, and authorized to operate the door panel.

  • Patent number: 10533359
Abstract: A snap lock balance shoe of a balance system may be incorporated in pivotable double hung windows. In one embodiment, the snap lock balance shoe includes a pair of retractable tabs that partially extend through openings within an inverted window balance channel. The shoe includes a locking member that extends toward a window jamb when a cam of the shoe is rotated. This extension locks the balance system in place in the window jamb. During a method of assembly of the balance system, the snap lock balance shoe may be engaged with the channel and then pivoted to secure the snap lock balance shoe to the channel.

  • Patent number: 10265900
Abstract: Methods for manufacturing fabric-reinforced weatherstrip include incorporating a fabric application step into a process for making coated substrates. In one embodiment, a strip of the fabric from a roll of material may be applied directly onto a coating after it has been applied in a coat die to a foam profile, while the coating is still in the molten state. Alternatively, a fabric application plate may be attached to an upstream side of coating die with a fabric feed channel cut into the plate. The fabric follows the channel to contact and mate with the foam profile. The fabric applicator plate may be configured so as to exert pressure on only the part of the product where the fabric is being applied. Ultrasonic welding techniques may also be employed.

  • Publication number: 20190032368
Abstract: A lock actuator assembly includes an escutcheon defining a longitudinal axis. A rotatable drive disk is rotatably coupled to the escutcheon about a rotational axis. A slide arm is slidingly coupled to the escutcheon and operably coupled to the drive disk such that movement of the slide arm along the longitudinal axis rotates the drive disk about the rotational axis. Additionally, an electronic actuator is coupled to the escutcheon. The electronic actuator is configured to drive the slide arm along the longitudinal axis, and the drive disk is adapted to couple to a lock mechanism so as to shift the lock mechanism between a locked position and an unlocked position when the drive disk rotates about the rotational axis.
