  • Publication number: 20130298821
Abstract: An apparatus and method for producing a crystalline ribbon continuously from a melt pool of liquid feed material, e.g. silicon. The silicon is melted and flowed into a growth tray to provide a melt pool of liquid silicon. Heat is passively extracted by allowing heat to flow from the melt pool up through a chimney. Heat is simultaneously applied to the growth tray to keep the silicon in its liquid phase while heat loss is occurring through the chimney. A template is placed in contact with the melt pool as heat is lost through the chimney so that the silicon starts to “freeze” (i.e. solidify) and adheres to the template. The template is then pulled from the melt pool thereby producing a continuous ribbon of crystalline silicon.

  • Patent number: 8573610
Abstract: A footrest apparatus for a wheelchair and the like has a pair of supporting frame configurations supporting a pair of foot plates to be position in a first position for use and a second position for transportation and/or storage. Each of the supporting frame configurations has a connecting shaft rotatably received in a vertical tube of a front wheel assembly. The vertical tube is affixed to a frame structure of the wheelchair and the like. The connecting shaft and the vertical tube in combination bear and transfer a foot load of the user and therefore a locking device provided between the connecting shaft and the vertical tube for locking the connecting frame configuration in a selected one of the first and second positions, will not bear the foot load, resulting a configuration convenience for conducting an unlock action.

  • Patent number: 8439376
Abstract: A mobile support assembly disposable between a stored orientation and an operative orientation including a frame having a front leg assembly including a pair of front legs, and a rear leg assembly including a pair of rear legs. At least one but preferably each of the front and rear leg assemblies include at least one cross member spanning the corresponding legs thereof. Each cross member is structured to have a variable length so as to effectively vary an overall width of the mobile support assembly and thereby facilitate a compact configuration of the frame when in the stored orientation. Further, at least one of the leg assemblies includes a lower portion wherein the wheels are included, the lower portion disposable into a non-operative storage position that at least partially defines a reduced longitudinal dimension of the frame when in the stored orientation.
