Abstract: A nut gatherer device includes a cage formed by a plurality of wires and a pair of hubs. Each hub includes first and second annular sets of spaced teeth, with portions of the wires secured in the radially-aligned spaces. In use, the wire cage is rolled on the ground into contact with a bulky object, such as a nut, so that the object forces the wires to separate and permit the nut to pass into the cage where it is retained until emptying.

Abstract: Techniques for implementing series-fed antenna arrays with a variable dielectric waveguide. In one implementation, coupling elements with optional controlled phase shifters are placed adjacent each radiating element of the array. To avoid frequency sensitivity of the resulting array, one or more waveguides have a variable propagation constant. The variable waveguide may use certain materials exhibiting this phenomenon, or may have configurable gaps between layers. Plated-through holes and pins can control the gaps; and/or a 2-D circular or a rectangular travelling wave array of scattering elements can be used as well.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a hand tool that includes an implement, a tang extending from the implement, and a handle secured tot the tang. The handle includes an opposing surface facing away from the implement, and a portion of the tang is configured to engage a portion of the opposing surface to mechanically lock the handle and tang together. The present invention is also directed to a multi-blade garden transplanter tool that includes at least three blades extending outward along a center axis from a free end to a handle end, and a handle is secured to the handle end.
Abstract: A composition for inducing lipolysis includes phosphatidylcholine and a preparation method therefor. More particularly, the composition for inducing lipolysis may include 2-12% (w/v) of phosphatidylcholine, 5-12% (w/v) of an oily solvent, and a balance of water; and a preparation method thereof. The composition may include phosphatidylcholine, an oily solvent, and water to induce lipolysis without causing such adverse side effects as edema, erythema, tissue necrosis, and inflammation.
Abstract: A communications and control system for use with a utility meter includes a first wireless communications subsystem for exchanging messages with a central facility via a cellular communications network. The first wireless communications system is operable to send messages including meter data generated by the utility meter to the central facility and receive utility control messages from the central facility for controlling the provision of a utility monitored by the utility meter. A second wireless subsystem communicates within a wireless mesh network of compatible wireless subsystems operating in conjunction with a set of utility meters for exchanging the meter data with a selected compatible wireless subsystem within the mesh network.

Abstract: An aircraft ejection system is provided. The aircraft ejection system may comprise a seat, a bridle coupled to the seat, suspension lines coupled to the bridle, and a drogue canopy coupled to the suspension lines. A first side of the drogue canopy may have a lower drag than a second side of the drogue canopy. The first side may comprise a mesh portion and/or an opening to reduce drag. The first side may further include a low-resistance structure with a circular or rectangular geometry. The bridle and the suspension lines may be configured to direct the first side in a predetermined direction, such as downward.
Abstract: As described herein, a hinge system may comprise one or more a guide wire hinges. In general, the guide wire hinges may be unitary members having a generally constant diameter. A pair of guide wire hinges may be utilized to hingeably couple a stow box door to the stow box housing. The hinge system ay be configured to be deformable in response to experiencing a warping.
Abstract: A stowable seat is provided. The stowable seat may comprise a housing, a back rest coupled to the housing at a top of the back rest, and a seat bottom coupled to a bottom of the back rest. A track may be coupled to a housing with the seat bottom configured to slide along the track. A linkage may be coupled between the housing and the track and configured to translate the track away from the housing.
Abstract: A nut gatherer device includes a cage formed by a plurality of wires. Each of the wires has a bowed middle segment and two straight end portions. Opposite end portions of the wires are secured within opposed hubs, each hub including first and second annular sets of spaced teeth, with the end portions of the wires secured in the radially-aligned spaces. A retainer affixed to the hub secures the wires between. A compressible washer between the wires and the retainer provides further securement and vibration dampening. An axle aperture in the hubs allows the cage to be rotatably attached to a handle. In use, the wire cage is rolled on the ground into contact with a bulky object, such as a nut, so that the object forces the wires to separate and permit the nut to pass into the cage where it is retained until emptying.

Abstract: A touch screen, now incorporated in most smart phones, presents an effective and transparent method to incorporate continuous active user verification schemes. The projected capacitive grid structure can be used to capture enough information to verify that a valid user currently has possession of the mobile device, even while the user is not consciously engaged in an active verification interface. Further processing, such as habitual gesture recognition, can augment the process.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for an aircraft seat with a dual-function linear actuator. The linear actuator may activate a first adjustable feature by moving in a first direction, and the linear actuator may activate a second adjustable feature by moving in a second direction. The linear actuator may include a decoupling mechanism. The decoupling mechanism may decouple the first adjustable feature and the second adjustable feature from the linear actuator in response to loss of power to the linear actuator.
Abstract: An amusement device has a display and an input device and includes a memory and a controller. The memory stores a plurality of games and a system control program. The controller is operatively coupled to the memory, the input device and the display. The controller controls the display based upon the system control program retrieved from the memory and based upon inputs from the input device. The controller is configured to grant a user a block of time for accessing the amusement device; permit the user to selectively retrieve from the memory and play a first game from the plurality of games during the block of time; and permit the user to selectively retrieve from the memory and play a second game from the plurality of games that is different than the first game during the block of time.
