Abstract: A method of communication between an instant messaging user and external applications is disclosed. The instant messaging user can communicate multimedia messages with traditional telephony users, with SMS and MMS users, with email users and with IM users of other instant messaging communities. Likewise, the instant messaging user can post and retrieve entries into and from a message board and into and from his blog space directly from the instant message client. Moreover, the instant messaging user can establish chat sessions with other instant messaging users without need to share one another's presence. Furthermore, the instant messaging user can place queries to a call center directly from the instant message client.
