Abstract: A method and device to balance a tiltable arm comprising a free extremity and having a pivot point on a mounting structure which is supported by a floating object, by providing the arm with suspension and/or support means for controlling the arm's inclination with respect to the horizon, and by providing said suspension and/or support means with at least one spring, wherein the spring connects to the arm and to said mounting structure, and embodying the spring as a passive spring which is arranged to balance the arm so as to stabilize a position of a free extremity of the arm during movements of the floating object.

Abstract: A computer program for compensating for motion of a boat as it floats on water includes computer code for causing a processor to receive motion measurements of the boat floating on water relative to another element in an area surrounding the boat, and generate driving signals for driving actuators operatively associated between the boat and at least one carrier based on motion of the boat, wherein the actuators hold the at least one carrier substantially stationary relative to the element based on the driving signal.

Abstract: A method for compensating for motion of a boat as it floats on water includes measuring the motion of the boat relative to another element in an area surrounding the boat, generating a driving signal for driving actuators operatively associated between the boat and at least one carrier based on motion of the boat, driving the actuators to hold the at least one carrier substantially stationary relative to the element based on the driving signal and relieving weight on the actuators by at least partially bearing the weight of a load and the at least one carrier by an at least partially passive pressure element.

Abstract: A vessel (1) with a motion compensation platform (4), which platform is provided with at least one carrier (6) for bearing, moving and/or transferring a load, actuators (5) for moving the carrier relative to the vessel, preferably in six degrees of freedom, a control system for driving the actuators (5), and motion sensors for measuring motions of the vessel (1) relative to the at least one element in the surrounding area, which measurements are used as input for the control system, wherein at least one at least partly passive pressure element (9) is provided for applying, during use, a pressure to the carrier for at least partly bearing this.
