Abstract: A handheld electronic device includes a housing, and a camera lens. The housing has a hole, and a camera lens is accommodated within the housing and exposed through the hole. The device includes a slidable panel and a retractable panel. The slidable panel is slidable relative to the housing between a covering position and a uncovering position. The camera lens is covered by the slidable panel when the slidable panel is at the covering position. The camera lens is uncovered when the slidable panel is at uncovering position. The retractable panel is movable relative to the housing between a retracted position and an unretracted position. The device further includes a mechanism configured to move the retractable panel from the unretracted position to the retracted position as the slidable panel slides from the covering position to the uncovering position.

  • Publication number: 20100180712
Abstract: A dual slider assembly for a mobile phone is provided which can perform semiautomatic bidirectional sliding operation using a single spring mechanism. The dual slider assembly includes a fixed plate. A first sliding plate is coupled to the fixed plate for sliding movement in a first sliding direction and is formed with a guide slot parallel to a second sliding direction. A second sliding plate is coupled to the first sliding plate for sliding movement in the second sliding direction. The dual slider assembly further includes an elastic means for applying an elastic force to maintain the first sliding plate and the second sliding plate in a stationary state, the elastic means having a first end pivotably secured to the fixed plate and a second end pivotably secured to the second sliding plate and restrained to slide along the guide slot of the first sliding plate.

  • Patent number: 7672451
Abstract: Disclosed is an electronic handheld device. The device has a first panel, a second panel rotatable relative to the first panel about an axis and a hinge. The hinge has first and second hinge members. The first member is engaged with the first panel. The second member is engaged with the second panel and rotatable relative to the first member about the axis. The first panel has a hole generally extending along the axis. The first hinge member is configured to linearly move within the hole. The first hinge member has an outer wall that has a curved surface and a key. The curved surface is a circular arc having a radius from the axis when viewed along the axis. The key is located outside an imaginary circle, a portion of the circumference line of which overlaps the circular arc.

  • Patent number: 7515707
Abstract: A portable apparatus of the present invention comprises a first unit, a second unit, and a hinge device that is coupled to the first and second units such that the units can be moved to be in contact with or spaced apart from each other and allows relative sliding movement between the first and second units within a certain range. The hinge device exerts a force in a direction in which the first and second units are spaced apart from each other, through the relative sliding movement by a predetermined distance between the two units in the complete contact state of the first and second units.
