Abstract: A side loader for a refuse vehicle has a laterally extendable first arm with an upper carriage connected to a gripper to releasably engage refuse containers. A second curved arm has a first position abutting the top end of the first arm so the upper carriage can reciprocate along the first and second arms. The second arm has a second, rotated position which dumps the refuse container into the vehicle. A drive chain connected to the upper carriage passes over a return roller which changes the direction of the chain before it is connected to the vehicle. A lower carriage reciprocates along the lower side of the first arm and holds two oppositely directed, hydraulic pistons. One piston moves the lower carriage relative to the vehicle and the other moves the return roller to alter the effective chain length and move the upper carriage faster than the lower carriage.

Abstract: An aerosol dispenser that is pressurized by both compressed gas and liquefied gas is able to retain desired spray characteristics, such as foaming, while reducing volatile organic compound content or hydrofluorocarbon content. A minimal amount of liquefied gas allows the product to retain its desired spray characteristics, and the compressed gas causes higher internal pressures while reducing the amount of liquefied gas needed as a propellant. The aerosol container may be filled by first placing a desired aerosol product in the container, followed by introducing liquefied gas followed by compressed gas, or by introducing compressed gas followed by liquefied gas.

A hollow box-like load eject blade is mounted within the refuse storage body for reciprocating movement along the longitudinal axis along a bottom floor of the refuse storage body. A hollow box-like packer blade is mounted within the refuse storage body for reciprocating movement along the longitudinal axis overlapping an upper surface of the eject blade. A pair of single stage hydraulic cylinders are coupled in crisscross fashion between the refuse storage body and the packer blade for moving the packer blade over a first range of travel.

The support rails slide beneath the body of the refuse collection vehicle across its width. A pair of opposing refuse container grippers are mounted on a carriage that reciprocates along the length of the lift arm to a curved upper portion for dumping refuse from the container into a hopper section of body. The opposite sides of the curved upper portion of the lift arm are pivotally connected to the vehicle body adjacent the hopper section. A hydraulic piston and cylinder drive assembly is mounted between the horizontal rails beneath the vehicle body for extending and retracting the lift arm from the side of the body. The lower end of the lift arm follows a curvilinear or arcuate path during extension and retraction.
