  • Patent number: 4094180
Abstract: A multiple stage wire drawing machine having a final stage draw block and a plurality of multiple step draw capstan assemblies each having a plurality of coaxial draw capstans of increasing diameter rotatably mounted on a drive spindle, driven at a fixed angular rate relative to the final stage draw block, and independently driven by the spindle through friction disc slip couplings at substantially the same slip drive torque.

  • Patent number: 4079609
Abstract: A control system for a multi-stage reducing apparatus having a series of material reducing stages through which elongate material is continuously advanced and progressively reduced in cross section. The control system is settable for establishing voltage analog signals representing the cross sections of the material at the plurality of successive stages and an input speed control signal for establishing the speed of the apparatus. A plurality of analog arithmetic units connected for being operated by the cross section signals and the speed control signal provide a plurality of speed reference signals for controlling the speeds of the material at the plurality of reducing stages respectively, each speed reference signal being directly proportional to the speed control signal and to the ratio of the cross sectional area of the material at the final stage to the cross sectional area of the material at the respective stage.

  • Patent number: 4060335
Abstract: A spade drill is provided with a holder for a spade cutting blade which is clamped in a slot of the holder by means of a clamp screw. The spade cutting blade is essentially formed with a cutting surface coming to a central point and of the same shape as the first cutting surface with an abutment surface located within the spade drill holder in the clamping slot which receives the cutting surface for holding the bit in place with means in the form of a clamp located across the clamping slot to grip the spade drill bit.

  • Patent number: 4045992
Abstract: A multiple stage wire drawing system with a plurality of pivotal dancer pulleys, each operable for maintaining wire stock tension between stages and for feeding wire stock downwardly along a generally helical path from an upper guide pulley receiving wire stock from a preceding draw block to a lower coaxial guide pulley aligned for guiding wire stock to a succeeding die block. Each pivotal dancer pulley is mounted via a support rotor on a relatively short pivot arm and for rotation about an axis inclined to its pivot axis, and a toggle type linkage is connected to the dancer pulley support rotor for controlling the angular relationship of the inclined dancer pulley to the coaxial guide pulleys.

  • Patent number: 3980442
Abstract: A method of using combination tool is disclosed in which a roller burnishing tool and a cutting tool are both mounted on a common shaft means and in which the roller burnishing tool has its mandrel arranged so that its largest diameter portion is located toward the forward end of the tool in the direction of normal advance and protruding from the larger diameter end porton of the mandrel is a nose or male portion that is adapted to engage a receiving socket means in cutting tool assembly that is co-axially arranged with the roller burnishing tool and in which cutting is accomplished on the forward pass and burnishing on withdrawal from a bore.
