Abstract: A desk attachment includes a base unit 1 including a communication bus having a communication port for connection to at least one remote signal source. A plurality of user modules 20 are provided for attachment to the base unit such that they are electrically connected with the bus. Each module has a PC port 22 for connection with a local computer and at least one peripheral port 23 for connection with a user interface device. The ports are arranged such that a computer on the PC port is operably connected to the or each peripheral port and the bus.

Abstract: A base station includes a tuner and teletext decoder 32 which outputs baseband video, audio and raw text data at 36, 37 and 39, along a cabling infrastructure 40. A remote PC 41 has a capture card to receive and display the video picture and assemble the text data into a picture which is stored and displayed as required. The PC also displays a control application window which, by pointing and clicking with a mouse 45, allows control signals to be sent to the tuner 32 to select channels and pages via a microcontroller 34. The text information is subjected to an error checking and re-transmission protocol at the PC.

Abstract: A balanced line such as 100 ohm UTP is coupled to an unbalanced line or port via a low pass filter enabling color video signals to be passed along the line without degradation. The preferred form of filter is a fifth order Chebychev. An improved performance is achieved by using dissimilar filters at each end of the line.
