The extrusion section encloses the chamber while waste (18) is compressed in the chamber to extrude a wet fraction (32) of the waste. The expulsion section abuts the chamber when a remaining dry fraction (40) of the waste expelled. Preferably, the expulsion section is above the extrusion section. Various details of the door account for leakage of wet fraction waste between the chamber and the door.

    Abstract: A press for processing organic waste has two plungers. Preferably, the plungers have rectangular cross sections. The two plungers are mounted in the press such that they are perpendicular to each other and have partially overlapping stokes. The press has walls that partially enclose a pressing chamber. The pressing chamber is as wide as one plunger on one side, and as wide as the other plunger on another side. In operation, one of the two plungers is used to optionally load organic waste into the pressing chamber, to partially enclose the pressing chamber while the waste is compressed, and to eject compressed waste from the pressing chamber. The other plunger is used to compress waste in the pressing chamber whereby a pressate is produced through perforations in a wall of the pressing chamber. The other plunger may also partially enclose the pressing chamber while compressed waste is ejected.

    Abstract: A press for waste has an actuator (42) that moves a ram (40) in a chamber (30). The actuator and the ram are connected by a fastening system (100). The fastening system allows the ram to be displaced in a direction perpendicular to the length and direction of travel of the actuator. In this way, as inner surfaces of the chamber wear the ram may adjust to the worn surfaces without applying large forces perpendicular to the length of the actuator. When the actuator moves forward, it pushes directly against the back of the ram. When the actuator moves backwards, it pulls a pin (102) that pushes on an inner surface (108) of the ram.

    Abstract: A method and device are used for separating particles of plastic foil from organic material. The device includes a chamber with a perforated wall. A mixture of particles of plastic foil and organic material is fed into the chamber through a feed opening. The mixture is set into a rotating movement inside the chamber by a rotor. In the vicinity of the perforations, the centrifugal force to which a particle is subjected is at least fifty times greater than the gravitational force to which the particle is subjected. An airflow is generated in the chamber parallel to the rotational axis of the rotor. Particles of organic material leave the chamber through the perforations. Particles of plastic foil are carried along by the first airflow and then discharge through an opening in the chamber.
