Abstract: A microphone system implements multiple microphones on a single base. To that end, the microphone system has a base, and a plurality of substantially independently movable diaphragms secured to the base. • Patent number: 8477053
Abstract: A resolution detector may be used in conjunction with an ADC to identify unresolved bits in a raw digital output of the ADC. Bits that have been properly resolved by the ADC may be distinguished from those that have not been successfully resolved, because of time limitations or other reasons. Each bit that has not been successfully resolved may be classified and referred to as an unresolved bit. If there are any unresolved bits detected in a sampling cycle, dither may then be incorporated in the raw digital output to compensate for the unresolved bits in that cycle. The dither may be added to the raw digital output of the ADC to eliminate any missing codes in the processed digital output codes or the dither may be substituted for the unresolved bits in raw digital output to generate the processed digital output.

Abstract: A slew rate booster, switchably enabled selector, or other arrangement may be included in a cascode amplifier to keep the current buffer/common gate transistor and the input/common source transistor saturated as the voltage at the source of the current buffer transistor drops during a transient input voltage spike at the gate of the input transistor. In some instances a higher potential may be supplied to a gate of the current buffer transistor during an initial phase of the settling period than during a second phase of the settling period when a lower potential may be applied. Other techniques may be used in different embodiments. Devices and methods are provided.

  • Publication number: 20130162259
Abstract: A system and method for developing highly accurate measurements by calibrating monitoring units with the known accurate measurements of an adjacent monitoring unit, thereby limiting the number of accurate references needed to accurately read a component stack. In a voltage stack having multiple packs with multiple cells per pack, a voltage reference with a known accuracy may be associated with a single pack. A monitoring unit may measure the overall voltage of the first pack and the combined voltage potential of the first pack and an adjacent pack. A second monitoring unit, having a different reference voltage, may then measure the overall voltage of the second pack. The two measurements of the second pack voltage may be compared and a correction factor may be calculated that may be used to correct subsequent measurements from the second pack.

  • Publication number: 20130166259
Abstract: A method for linearizing a non-linear system element includes acquiring data representing inputs and corresponding outputs of the non-linear system element. A model parameter estimation procedure is applied to the acquired data to determine model parameters of a model characterizing input-output characteristics of the non-linear element. An input signal representing a desired output signal of the non-linear element is accepted and processed to form a modified input signal according to the determined model parameters. The processing includes, for each of a series of successive samples of the input signal, applying an iterative procedure to determining a sample of the modified input signal according to a predicted output of the model of the non-linear element. The modified input signal is provided for application to the input of the non-linear element.

  • Patent number: 8471740
Abstract: A method and device involve a circuit having a switched capacitor network that is switchably connected to an input signal. A randomly determined amount of dither is injected into a circuit having a switched capacitor network that is switchably connected to an input signal. After injecting the dither, at least one correlation value is determined. The correlation value(s) indicates a degree of correlation between the injected dither and an output of the circuit. Distortion caused by an amount of charge kicked back into the circuit when the switched capacitor network is reconnected to the input signal may then be reduced. The reduction is calculated as a function of the correlation value(s).

  • Patent number: 8472270
Abstract: An apparatus and method of testing one-time-programmable memory limits current through a one-time-programmable memory to less than a threshold amplitude, where the memory has a fuse configured to blow upon receipt of a signal having the threshold amplitude. The method also uses blow signal assertion circuitry to attempt to assert a blow signal to the fuse. When not defective, blow signal assertion circuitry is configured to permit the low amplitude signal to flow through the fuse when the fuse is not blown and the blow signal is asserted. The method then produces an output signal having a success value if the limited current flows through the fuse, and a failure value if the current does not flow through the fuse.

  • Patent number: 8471741
Abstract: A method and a corresponding device for reducing inter-channel coupling in a circuit having a plurality of channels includes injecting a randomly determined amount of dither into a first channel of a circuit having a plurality of channels, and after injecting the dither, obtaining an output signal of a second channel in the plurality of channels. A correlation value indicating a degree of correlation between the injected dither and the output signal is determined, and an amount of charge applied to the second channel due to cross-coupling with the first channel is reduced. The amount of the reduction is calculated as a function of the correlation value.

Abstract: A MEMS system has an input for receiving a plurality of frequency division multiplexed variable capacitance signals, and a readout node electrically coupled with the input. Each variable capacitance signal is produced by a variable capacitor and has data relating to movement of microstructure associated with that variable capacitor. Moreover, each variable capacitance signal is produced by a variable capacitor that is different from the variable capacitor producing any of the other variable capacitance signals. The system further has a mixer electrically coupled with the readout node, and an output electrically coupled with the mixer. The mixer is configured to substantially continuously receive the plural variable capacitance signals. In addition, the output has an output interface for delivering the plurality of variable capacitance signals in parallel. The signals at the output should represent real time signals, as compared to stale sample and hold signals used in prior art systems.
