  • Patent number: 5803234
Abstract: A roller assembly including a roller and a support frame is removably mounted in a carrier attached to the floor of a vehicle. The roller is raised to an extended position so as to abut against a cargo unit load device when a roller drive system is activated and subsequently automatically lowered to a retracted position within the carrier when this system is deactivated. The roller is rotatably mounted on a support frame. Also mounted on this support frame is a DC motor which has an eccentric arm attached to its drive shaft. When the roller drive system is electrically activated, the DC motor as well as the roller drive motor are both activated, with the DC motor driving its arm against a post member to bring the frame to its extended position in the carrier. In this position, the roller is urged upwardly in abutment against the cargo unit load device. A capacitor is fully charged while the motors are activated.

  • Patent number: 5738199
Abstract: A roller assembly is removably mounted on the floor of a vehicle. The assembly has a floor unit which is mounted on the vehicle floor and an erectable unit pivotally supported on the floor unit. This assembly has a retracted configuration in which the erectable unit is retracted in abutment against the floor unit. In the retracted configuration the assembly is adapted for moving cargo therelong in a first direction. The assembly further has an erected configuration in which the erectable unit is retained in a position normal to the floor unit. In this second configuration the assembly is adapted for moving cargo in a second direction at an acute angle relative to the first direction. To facilitate movement of the cargo, a first set of rollers is mounted on the floor unit of the assembly for universal movement and a second set of rollers is mounted on the erectable unit of the assembly for rotational movement about a single axis.

  • Patent number: 5618139
Abstract: A roller restraint assembly is removably mounted on the floor of a vehicle in an outboard location where it restrains cargo movement laterally but permits longitudinal cargo movement along its roller. This assembly has a pivotally mounted restraint arm which engages the base portion of a cargo pallet and restrains the pallet against vertical movement. When the cargo is moved longitudinally it drives the restraint arm aside on its pivot, thereby permitting longitudinal movement of such cargo. A roller is rotatably mounted on the assembly to facilitate longitudinal movement of the cargo while restraining lateral movement thereof. The roller further has a dampener incorporated therein which dampens and attenuates the impact of loads thereagainst.

Abstract: A roller assembly is removably mounted on the floor of a vehicle. This assembly has a retracted configuration adapted for moving cargo therelong in a first direction and an erected configuration for moving cargo in a second direction normal to the first direction. A first set of rollers is mounted in the assembly for universal movement. A second set of rollers is mounted for rotational movement about a first axis while a third set of rollers is mounted for rotational movement about a second axis normal to said first axis. In the retracted configuration, the first and second set of rollers facilitate the movement of the cargo in the first direction, the third set of rollers being below the support surface of the assembly so as not to interfere with such movement. A sub-assembly on which the third set of rollers is rotatably mounted is spring urged to the erected position by manual release of a latch.

  • Patent number: 5573359
Abstract: A cargo securing device is removably mounted on the floor of a vehicle such as an aircraft, this device being adapted to guide palletized loads to prevent substantial movement thereof during transportation. The device is spring urged to a retracted position wherein it lies substantially flat to permit the passage of cargo thereover during loading. The device is manually raised to its operative position against the spring action. When in its raised operative position, a pair of locking pins slidably mounted on the central portion of the device are spring urged into channels formed in an outer support portion of the device to retain the device in the raised position. A lever is manually operated to withdraw the locking pins from the channels thereby permitting the device to be driven by the spring to its retracted position. In its raised operative position, the device has a dog which engages the base of a pallet to restrict vertical movement thereof.

  • Patent number: 4967894
Abstract: A roller track comprises a series of rollers having their axes positioned mutually parallel and transverse to the longitudinal direction of the series. The roller are rotatably journalled in an elongated carrier which is received in a U-channel which is closable at its open upper side by a cover plate which may be secure to the upper edges of the section flanges. The carrier with the rollers is movable vertically between a lower position, in which the rollers are completely sunk in the housing, and an upper or operative position, in which the rollers extend by a fraction of their diameter through corresponding apertures in the cover plate. The operative position is upwardly limited in that at both sides of the carrier, portions of the carrier abut from below against inwardly projecting flange portions of the channel.
