Abstract: A portable communication device includes a base and a top portion that are operatively coupled by a slider hinge assembly that is configured to facilitate sliding motion between the base and the top portion. The slider hinge assembly includes a base hinge member and an upper hinge member, where the base hinge member and/or the upper hinge member are comprised of a printed circuit board material.

Abstract: A method and a system are provided for controlling a controller without physically touching the controller. A hand or other object interacts with a field surrounding the controller, altering the field. A change in characteristic of the altered field causes a corresponding movement of the controller that, in turn, corresponds to an amount of change in a parameter of a target device being controlled by the controller. The parameter of the target device is controlled by the controller while a user has no physical contact with the controller.

Abstract: Methods, devices and systems for improved zone merge operations are disclosed. Two connected switches are arbitrated as an initiator and a receiver. The merge operation is initiated only by the initiator on an initiator/receiver inter-switch link. The initiator may initiate a merge request and the receiver may perform the computation of the difference between the old and the new zone. Either the whole configuration or only the differences are communicated between the switches. The merges may be done on a connected switch basis, not on a connected port basis. Only the principle ports in the principle inter-switch-link perform the merge operation. All the remaining ports, i.e. the non-principle ports, adopt the merge result of the principle ports. The zone information may also be cached on each switch such that merge calculations need not be performed again when a merge operation with the same configuration occurs in the future.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing services for stations supported by a residential gateway are provided. The residential gateway can support one or more fixed-line station and/one or more mobile stations. The mobile stations can be supported by a wireless macro network and/or the residential gateway. Services such as simultaneous ringing, distinctive ringing, call transfer, extension functionality, and the like can be provided for the mobile station and the fixed-line station.

Abstract: A portable communication device includes a base assembly, a flip assembly and an intermediate assembly operatively coupled to the base assembly and the flip assembly by a dual sliding flip hinge assembly. The dual sliding flip hinge assembly is configured to facilitate sliding motion of the intermediate assembly along a first direction and along a second direction that is perpendicular to the first direction. The dual sliding flip hinge assembly further facilitates rotation of the intermediate assembly upon sliding along the second direction. The base assembly, flip assembly and intermediate assembly may be configured to include respective displays and/or touch-input devices to provide a portable communication device with increased display area and/or control area with a smaller footprint often associated with conventional clamshell or slider portable communication devices.

Abstract: A method for resolving conflict between network searching and traffic includes: determining if a service request corresponds to mobile originated traffic or mobile terminated traffic, when a second user card receives the service request during a process of the network searching of a first user card; temporarily suspending the mobile originated traffic and continuing to perform the network searching of the first user card, when the service request corresponds to the mobile originated traffic; and temporarily suspending the network searching of the first user card, firstly processing the mobile terminated traffic, and continuing to perform the network searching of the first user card after completing the mobile terminated traffic, when the service request corresponds to the mobile terminated traffic.

Abstract: Method for transmitting and receiving signals over at least one channel between at least one transmitter and at least one receiver, the channel comprising at least one group of sub-channels, the group comprising at least one sub-channel, including the procedures of estimating at least one line characteristic of the channel and selecting a transmission scheme for each group of the at least one group of sub-channels according to the estimated line characteristic, wherein the transmission scheme is selected between a single spatial stream transmission scheme and a multiple spatial stream transmission scheme.

Abstract: Techniques for persisting data stored in volatile memory across a warm boot. One or more portions (referred to as “warm memory”) of volatile memory of the system can be reserved and configured such that the data stored by these portions is not affected by a warm boot thereby resulting in the data stored being persisted across a warm boot.

Abstract: Methods, computer readable media, and apparatuses for switching streams in response to detecting a start trigger are presented. A program's start trigger indicating that the program is upcoming may be detected on a first stream, and in response to detecting the start trigger on the first stream, a second stream containing the program may be switched to. The program may be a video program. Segment triggers may be detected and may be used to selectively record and/or delete segments of the program according to a priority scheme. Multiple start triggers may be detected at decreasing time intervals. The existence of a recording conflict may be determined based on a program's start trigger and a user may be alerted of the recording conflict.

Abstract: A method for solving conflict between network searching and mobile phone traffic of a multi-card multi-standby mobile phone is provided. The method comprises storing network searching information of a first user card and processing the mobile phone traffic of a second user card, when conflict occurs between the network searching of the first user card and the mobile phone traffic of the second user card, and continuing to perform the network searching according to the stored network searching information of the first user card after completing the mobile phone traffic, when processing time of the mobile phone traffic of the second user card is less than or equal to a time threshold value. A multi-card multi-standby mobile phone is provided too.

Abstract: The invention discloses a method for communicating an application processor and a modem. A physical link is provided between the application processor and the modem and corresponds to multiple virtual channels. The modem is embedded in a user equipment, and the user equipment is adapted for multiple user identification module cards. The method comprises: establishing, by the application processor, a relation of combining virtual channels to the user identification module card for receiving the service requests when service requests are sent to at least a user identification module card of the user equipment; and transferring the service requests to the user identification module card through the virtual channels which have the relation of combining to the user identification module card.

Abstract: The memory storage, transmission and processing demands of a vectored DSL system are reduced by sampling a subset of DSL tones in the DSL tone range used in the vectored system. This data is smoothed (denoised) to further reduce the data's size, sacrificing some fidelity or precision as a result. Finally, lossless entropy coding or the like is performed to encode the FEXT cancellation data for storage and use. The resulting data is less likely to cause transmission bottlenecks in the vectored system, can be stored and used more efficiently for both on-chip and off-chip vectoring implementations, and can be readily updated in various ways.

Abstract: Longest Prefix Match (LPM) is implemented using a binary tree based search algorithm. Masked entries are stored in a plurality of binary search engines, wherein each of the binary search engines stores masked entries of a corresponding mask length. A search value is applied to each of the binary search engines in parallel. The search value is masked within each of the binary search engines, thereby creating a plurality of masked search values, each having a masked length equal to the mask length of the corresponding binary search engine. Each of the masked search values is compared with the masked entries of the corresponding binary search engine. An LPM result is selected from the binary search engine that detects a match, and has the longest corresponding mask length. Alternately, each binary search engine stores masked entries of N mask lengths, and N consecutive comparisons are performed to identify the LPM.

Abstract: A wireless communication device transfers instructions to a host device over a USB connection responsive to being connected to the host device over the USB connection. The instructions direct the host device to enumerate the wireless communication device as a USB MSC device. The wireless communication device wirelessly transfers a device identifier for the wireless communication device to a wireless communication network responsive to being connected to the host device over the USB connection. The wireless communication network processes the device identifier to limit communication service for the wireless communication device to communications with a particular data storage system.

Abstract: A complementary network quality testing method for conducting a test on the quality of service with regard to data transmission taking place in a telecommunication network includes setting up a committed bucket of a committed burst size to receive tokens introduced thereinto at a committed information rate; receiving normal protocol data units and/or test protocol data units, followed by storing the normal protocol data units in a data queue and/or storing the test protocol data units in a test queue; determining whether the normal protocol data units are present in the data queue; and retrieving selectively the test protocol data units from the test queue or determining, selectively and again, whether the normal protocol data units are present in the data queue, depending on whether the tokens are present in the committed bucket.

Abstract: Systems and methods for associating applications with an electronic program guide are provided. An electronic program guide that includes television schedule information organized in a grid by time and channel may be generated. The electronic program guide may be configured for presentation to a user by an electronic program guide application executed by a programming processing component associated with the user. A second application different from the electronic program guide application may be associated with an entry in the grid of the electronic program guide. The second application may be configured for execution by the programming processing component based at least in part upon the user selecting the entry. Once generated, the electronic program guide may be output for receipt by the programming processing component.

Abstract: Management of call center call routing is provided. Service calls directed to a call center may be monitored according to a variety of parameters such as associated line of business, date, time, and call volume. Calls directed to an internal call center may be routed to an alternate call center for processing as required or needed by the provider of the internal call center. For each type of incoming service call, a maximum call count or percentage-based call count may be established to facilitate efficient routing of service calls to the internal call center or to an alternate call center to ensure that no more than a specified number of calls are routed to a given call center. Real time and summary reporting may be generated to allow call center management personnel to monitor and manage service call routing to one or more internal and/or alternate call centers.

Abstract: Techniques for achieving high-availability using a single processor (CPU). In a system comprising a multi-core processor, at least two partitions may be configured with each partition being allocated one or more cores of the multiple cores. The partitions may be configured such that one partition operates in active mode while another partition operates in standby mode. In this manner, a single processor is able to provide active-standby functionality, thereby enhancing the availability of the system comprising the processor.

Abstract: Exemplary methods, systems, and products are disclosed for synchronizing visual and speech events in a multimodal application, including receiving from a user speech; determining a semantic interpretation of the speech; calling a global application update handler; identifying, by the global application update handler, an additional processing function in dependence upon the semantic interpretation; and executing the additional function. Abstract: Systems and methods providing content having digital rights management (DRM) applications separable from other authorization applications are provided. A system may include a distribution service provider system in communication with a content provider system and consumer premise equipment (CPE) for the transmission of content from the content provider system to the CPE device. The distribution service provider system may: receive A/V content provided by the content provider system, wherein the A/V content includes a DRM application; apply a conditional access system (CAS) application to the A/V content that is independent of the DRM application; and transmit the A/V content including the CAS and the DRM applications to the CPE for presentation. The CPE device can perform DRM authorizations with the content provider or a third-party DRM provider.
