    Abstract: Automatic cell discovery of a source radio access network (RAN) cell by a neighboring, target RAN by initiating a fake handover of a user equipment (UE) from a source RAN cell to a target RAN. A source RAN cell initiates a handover request using handover signaling to the target RAN(s). The handover request is a fake handover request without actual intention of handing over UE to the target RAN. The source RAN cell includes information in initiated handover request that can be used by target RAN to discover source RAN cell. The handover request will fail, because the handover request is not for any actual UE moving from the source RAN cell to the target RAN. However, the target RAN becomes aware of the source RAN cell as a result of this process and can add the source RAN cell (e.g., its EARFCN) to a list of its neighboring cells.

The network transceiver wirelessly transfers the downlink signal through the physical barrier to the serving transceiver. Contemporaneously, the network transceiver determines an uplink beamforming matrix. The network transceiver determines an uplink power based on the uplink beamforming matrix. The serving transceiver beamforms and amplifies an uplink signal based on the uplink beamforming matrix and uplink power. The serving transceiver wirelessly transfers the uplink signal through the physical barrier to the network transceiver.

A user device is configured with channel usage information, e.g. N bitmaps, each bitmap indicating a different control channel resource allocation that may be used for communication with the UE, and/or reference signal information. The UE determines the occupied sub-bands in a DL transmission burst over the bandwidth portion, and determines control channel resource information based on the determined occupied sub-channels. The UE determines CSI-RS measurement locations based on determined sub-band occupancy. In some embodiments, the UE performs in-sync and out-of-sync evaluations based BLER threshold scaling factors, which are based on sub-band occupancy.

    Abstract: Embodiments provide system and methods for a DDoS service using a mix of mitigation systems (also called scrubbing centers) and non-mitigation systems. The non-mitigation systems are less expensive and thus can be placed at or near a customer's network resource (e.g., a computer, cluster of computers, or entire network). Under normal conditions, traffic for a customer's resource can go through a mitigation system or a non-mitigation system. When an attack is detected, traffic that would have otherwise gone through a non-mitigation system is re-routed to a mitigation system. Thus, the non-mitigation systems can be used to reduce latency and provide more efficient access to the customer's network resource during normal conditions. Since the non-mitigation servers are not equipped to respond to an attack, the non-mitigation systems are not used during an attack, thereby still providing protection to the customer network resource using the mitigation systems.
