Patent number: 10785471Abstract: A system for content upsampling comprises a console and a head-mounted display (HMD). The console can select content for presentation and provide the content at a first frame rate. The HMD outputs fast calibration data comprising one or more intermediate estimated positions of a reference point on the HMD. The HMD estimates future positions of the HMD using the fast calibration data, and generates synthetic frames using frames from the content and the future positions of the HMD. The HMD then upsamples the content from the first frame rate to a second frame using the synthetic frames to generate augmented content, wherein the second frame rate is faster than the first frame rate. The HMD presents the augmented content at the second frame rate via an electronic display.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2018Date of Patent: September 22, 2020Assignee: Facebook Technologies, LLCInventors: Warren Andrew Hunt, Devin Boyer, Nathan Bialke, William Howe-Lott, Hung Huu Nguyen

Patent number: 10782891Abstract: Non-volatile cache in a host computer provides a storage tier in a system that includes at least one other tier of storage in a storage array. Selected data of a host device that represents a storage array production volume is stored in non-volatile cache. An MPIO driver in the host computer accesses the non-volatile cache or the storage array in response to an IO from a host application to the host device. A tiering engine in either the host computer or the storage array uses data access statistics to calculate which data should be promoted or demoted to non-volatile cache. Data access statistics indicative of access to non-volatile cache may be provided to the storage array by the host computer. Data changes may be aggregated by the host computer and asynchronously destaged to the storage array. Data changes or dirty data discard messages may be exchanged by peer host computer synchronously with a write operation.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 2016Date of Patent: September 22, 2020Assignee: EMC IP HOLDING COMPANY LLCInventors: Owen Martin, Adnan Sahin, Gabriel Benhanokh, Arieh Don

Patent number: 10784988Abstract: Techniques are described for performing conditional forward error correction (FEC) of network data. The techniques and solutions can be applied to suppress the transmission of redundant forward error correction information for data (e.g., frames of audio and/or video data) that can be effectively recovered at the receiving device (e.g., at the decoder). For example, a first computing device that is encoding and transmitting data (e.g., encoded audio data) to a second computing device can determine whether portions of data can be predicted (e.g., to a certain quality measure) at the second computing device. If the portions of data can be predicted, then the first computing device can skip sending redundant copies of the portions of data (e.g., can skip sending forward error correction information) in current network packets.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2018Date of Patent: September 22, 2020Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Sriram Srinivasan, Soren Skak Jensen, Koen Bernard Vos

Patent number: 10784953Abstract: Radio communications systems use 100 to 200 satellites in random low-earth orbits distributed over a predetermined range of north and south latitudes. The satellites themselves create a radio route between ground stations via radio links between multiple satellites by virtue of onboard global navigation satellite system circuitry for determining the location of the satellite and route creation circuitry for calculating in real time the direction from the satellite's location at a particular instant to a destination ground station. Directional antennas in the satellites transmit routing radio signals to enhance the probability of reception by other satellites. One embodiment facilitates the creation of satellite-to-satellite links by assigning each satellite a unique identifier, storing orbital information defining the locations of all of the orbiting satellites in the system at any particular time, and including in the radio signal the unique identifier associated with the transmitting satellite.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 2019Date of Patent: September 22, 2020Assignee: STAR MESH LLCInventor: Gerald R. Patent number: 10785020Abstract: A system for hardware offloading programs a network interface card with a mapping between (i) a connection identification (CID) for one or more Quick User Datagram Protocol Internet Connections (QUIC) data packets and (ii) a symmetric key and a crypto algorithm. When one or more data packets are received over a network, the one or more data packets are parsed to identify the one or more data packets as QUIC data packets and then obtain the CID for the QUIC data packets. The CID is sent to the network interface card that identifies the symmetric key and the crypto algorithm based on the CID to perform a crypto decrypt operation on the QUIC data packets, and reassembles the QUIC data packets, and an encrypt and large send offload (LSO) on transmit. A software control complexity and processing burden is thereby reduced.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 2018Date of Patent: September 22, 2020Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Praveen Balasubramanian, Nicholas A.
