Abstract: A laser welding system for joining a first workpiece to a second workpiece includes a laser welder configured to emit a laser beam at a power to form a weld to join the first workpiece and the second workpiece at a weld location. The laser welding system includes a plasma protection fixture coupled to a surface of at least the first workpiece. The plasma protection fixture defines an opening configured to receive the laser beam. The opening has a perimeter that surrounds and is spaced apart from the weld. The plasma protection fixture has a height above the surface of at least the first workpiece about the perimeter of the opening that is defined based on the power of the laser beam.

Abstract: Apparatuses, methods, systems, and techniques for providing special effects wirelessly using a device plugged into a standard electrical outlet are provided. Example embodiments provide an apparatus and associated software applications for remote and live control of special effects (hereinafter a “Remote Special Effects System,” or “RSES”) using special effect (SE) devices such as individually addressable LEDs, LED strips, fog and smoke machines, and the like. The example RSES described herein comprises one or more SE controller devices that each plug into a standard electrical outlet and are each connected to one or more SE devices. Each SE controller is wirelessly connected to the Internet (or other wide area network) so that it can respond to DMX (or other protocol) commands sent by a remote application by issuing corresponding commands specific to the connected SE device to cause synchronized special effects to occur to an ad-hoc created zone of SE controllers.

The molded body has a primary surface arranged in a plane and a side surface that is non-parallel with the plane. The assembly also includes a slot defined in the primary surface of the molded body, and a signal lead extending out of the side surface of the molded body. The signal lead is electrically coupled with the circuit and has a plurality of bends that include a bend of that is at least partially disposed in the slot.

Abstract: A method includes receiving an automated speech recognition (ASR) request from a user device that includes a speech input captured by the user device and content metadata associated with the speech input. The content metadata is generated by the user device. The method also includes determining a priority score for the ASR request based on the content metadata associated with the speech input and caching the ASR request in a pre-processing backlog of pending ASR requests each having a corresponding priority score. The pending ASR requests in the pre-processing backlog are ranked in order of the priority scores. The method also includes providing, from the pre-processing backlog, one or more of the pending ASR requests to a backend-side ASR module, wherein pending ASR requests associated with higher priority scores are processed before pending ASR requests associated with lower priority scores.

Abstract: Improved methods for retrieval of content from CDNs is provided that includes a rendezvous controller that receives information of an identification of content being requested and an estimated location of a content requesting device. Based on this information, the rendezvous system identifies a server within a CDN from which the requested content may be retrieved. The selected server may be based on a repeatable hash function such that the likelihood that the content being requested is cached at the selected server. Steering requests to a server of the CDN which may have the content cached may reduce the number of servers within the CDN with the same cached content, particularly for the highest requested content. The rendezvous system may then return a corresponding domain name associated with the selected server and that can be subsequently submitted to a DNS for resolution to the IP address of the identified server.

Abstract: A bone fixation screw is provided for coupling with a bone fusion plate to join bone fusions. The bone fixation screw comprises a head portion and a shank that is comprised of distal threads and extends to a tapered portion and a rounded distal end. The head portion includes proximal threads extending circumferentially around an inferior end of the head portion. The proximal threads are configured to advantageously cross-thread with aperture threads of the bone fusion plate when the bone fixation screw is obliquely angled relative to the bone fusion plate. Slots disposed around the head portion allow the proximal threads to disengage and reengage with the aperture threads as the bone fixation screw turns. A shaped opening in a superior end of the head portion engagedly receives a tool for driving the bone fixation screw into a bone hole.

A game system may provide an application programming interface (API) for use with an electronic game to generate music. Generation of music by way of an interface may allow for exchange of one or more of user preferences, identification of a musical motif, and a musical style influence. The interface may allow for transfer of metadata for use in creating dynamic music. The interface may allow for operations of rendering dynamic music on a first device to be supplied to a second device.

A method can include detecting at least one user preference for gaming music, determining a game state, and generating gaming music based on the at least one user preference and the game state. Customization of audio and gaming music can have a large impact on a gaming experience. Musical preferences may be collected for users to generate dynamic music and to improve gaming system ability to generate a customized experience. Musical preferences can include one or more of genres, specific song titles, indications of preferred types of music, music identified for certain gaming activities, user feedback, and country of origin. Music may be generated based on emotional cues of a game scene. Music may be controlled to be more prominent or less obtrusive to a game state.

In an example, the system can identify a location of the disabled vehicle, deploy the towing vehicle to the location of the disabled vehicle, where the towing vehicle uses sensor data from a sensor suite and a perception module to navigate to the location of the disabled vehicle, and use the towing vehicle to tow the disabled vehicle to a new location.

Abstract: System and methods for providing a target price for a target vehicle with a target mileage are provided. One exemplary method includes receiving attributes for the target vehicle, receiving prices for sold vehicles having attributes corresponding to the target vehicle attributes, and receiving mileages for the sold vehicles. The exemplary method may further include generating a linear regression model relating the sold vehicle mileages to the sold vehicle prices, and providing the target price for the target vehicle based on the model.

In one example, a golf club head may include a body portion, a first set of ports extending in a heel-to-toe direction, a second set of ports extending in a heel-to-toe direction, a first cavity portion between the first set of ports and the face portion, a second cavity portion between the second set of ports and the rear portion, a first filler material in the first cavity portion, and a second filler material in the second cavity portion. The distance between each port of the first set of ports and the face portion is less than a distance between each port of the second set of ports and the face portion.
