Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to incident routing in a cloud environment. In an example, cloud provider teams utilize a scout framework to build a team-specific scout based on that team's expertise. In examples, an incident is detected and a description is sent to each team-specific scout. Each team-specific scout uses the incident description and the scout specifications provided by the team to identify, access, and process monitoring data from cloud components relevant to the incident. Each team-specific scout utilizes one or more machine learning models to evaluate the monitoring data and generate an incident-classification prediction about whether the team is responsible for resolving the incident. In examples, a scout master receives predictions from each of the team-specific scouts and compares the predictions to determine to which team an incident should be routed.

Abstract: A gesture based authentication system for an autonomous vehicle (AV) uses light detecting and ranging (lidar) to observe a user making a specific gesture and, in response to observing the gesture, authorizes the user to access the vehicle. The authentication system may first identify a human in the vicinity of the AV, and then compare a body position of the identified human to a model trained to determine if a human is performing the specific gesture. If the model determines that the identified human is performing the gesture, the AV authorizes the user to access the vehicle, e.g., to accept a delivery or to ride in the AV.

Abstract: Gait, the walking pattern of individuals, is one of the most important biometrics modalities. Most of the existing gait recognition methods take silhouettes or articulated body models as the gait features. These methods suffer from degraded recognition performance when handling confounding variables, such as clothing, carrying and view angle. To remedy this issue, a novel AutoEncoder framework is presented to explicitly disentangle pose and appearance features from RGB imagery and a long short-term memory integration of pose features over time produces the gait feature.

Abstract: Systems and methods of delegating media capturing functionality from one device to another are presented. A first device configured with an object recognition engine captures a media representation of an environment and identifies an object within that environment. Then based on matched object traits from a database, the engine selects a delegation rules set, and delegates certain media capturing functionality to a second device according to the selected delegation rules set.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide methods and apparatuses for video encoding/decoding. For example, processing circuitry decodes prediction information of a current block in a current picture from a coded video bitstream. The prediction information is indicative of an affine merge mode with offset. Then, the processing circuitry decodes, from the coded video bitstream, a set of offset parameters that is used to determine a motion vector difference, and applies the motion vector difference to first motion vectors of multiple control points of a base predictor of the current block to determine second motion vectors at corresponding multiple control points of the current block. Further, the processing circuitry determines parameters of an affine model based on the second motion vectors at the corresponding multiple control points of the current block, and reconstructs at least a sample of the current block according to the affine model.

One example provides a computing device comprising a processor and a storage device storing instructions executable by the processor. The instructions are executable to provide a first workload from a first client and a second workload from a second client to a shared memory accessible by the first client, the second client, and a resource configured to process the first workload and the second workload. The computing device is configured to determine that an exception has occurred while processing the first workload, and to take an action to prevent execution of at least some additional work from the first client. The instructions are further executable to receive a result of processing the second workload after taking the action to prevent the execution of the additional work.

Abstract: A system for detecting a fraudulent ATM transaction is disclosed. The system relates to an ATM machine that receives a bank/ATM card from a customer. The ATM first attempts to read information from the card chip, but is unable to do so due to a read error. The ATM then instead reads the information from the magnetic strip, and initiates a fraud detection procedure. In one such procedure, the ATM uses a local wireless access point to detect a customer's device, such as a phone, in the vicinity of the ATM. In another such procedure, the ATM communicates with a backend server. The backend server then determines the location of the customer device either by transmitting a message to request authorization, or by utilizing GPS or other location-detection means on the customer device to determine whether the customer device is within the ATM vicinity.

Abstract: A method for evaluating hydraulic fracturing places distinctive tracers in each of the fractured regions around a number of production wellbores. For example, these tracers can by carried in the fracking fluid. Preferably, the tracers are embedded in the proppant material carried by the fracking fluid to more accurately reflect the extent of the resulting fractures. An observation wellbore is then drilled to transect these fractured regions in series. As drilling progresses into each fractured region, the distinctive tracer for that fractured region can be recovered in the observation wellbore. This information can be used to determine the location and extent of the fractured regions. Gaps or regions of overlap between adjacent fractured regions can also be identified. In addition, the observation wellbore allows other types of evaluation of the fractured regions, such as visual inspection of fractures by camera.
