Abstract: A foam pad attached to a portion of an elastically expansible cohesive article, e.g., a tape or bandage, the pad is placed over a wound, sore, or ulcer, and the remainder of the cohesive tape or bandage is wrapped around the afflicted body part, and the tape or bandage compresses the pad against the wound. Preferably, the foam pad is hydrophilic foam, the oppositely facing surfaces of the tape or bandage to which the pad is attached are each coated with a cohesive composition, the pad has a thickness greater than about 0.1 inches and is sized and adapted to cover a wound on a body part, and the longer elastically expansible tape or bandage is sized to wrap several times around the body part. The product may be provided as a roll in which the cohesive coated surfaces contact and cohesively adhere to each other, and may be in sterile condition in a sealed package. If intended for a single use, the product may include only a single pad.

Abstract: A laminated non-elastic tape is provided. The laminated tape may include two layers of material, each layer having warp yarns extending longitudinally of the tape and weft yarns extending transversely of the tape. The warp yarns may be non-elastic. The two layers of material having warp yarns and weft yarns may be, for example, warp-knitted weft-insertion fabrics, scrim woven fabrics, or any other suitable material that facilitates hand-tearing of the tape. The tape may include a layer of nonwoven material positioned, for example, between the two layers of material. The layers of material may be bonded together with a binder. In some embodiments, the binder may be a latex- or non-latex-based cohesive agent.

Abstract: A vapor permeable article includes a porous backing substrate and an open fabric applied to one surface of the backing substrate. The open fabric has a greater porosity than that of the backing substrate. The open fabric is coated with an adhesive in such a manner that the open fabric remains porous and vapor permeable. The coated article can have a greater tensile strength in the cross direction than in the machine direction, and the adhesive can penetrate into at least a portion of a thickness of the porous backing.

Abstract: A laminated elastic fabric includes a first carrier layer of non-elastic, open fabric, and a second layer which is elastic in a direction extending longitudinally of the fabric; a first outer fabric layer and a second outer fabric layer on opposing sides of the first carrier and second elastic layers, and a binder bonding the layers together. The carrier layer can be a warp knit/weft insertion fabric having knit yarns and fill yarns and oriented with the knit yarns thereof extending longitudinally of the fabric, the knit yarns being non-elastic, each of the knit yarns extending longitudinally of the fabric including a plurality of longitudinally-spaced knitted loops, and each of the fill yarns extending transversely of the fabric and through loops of the knit yarns.

Abstract: A cohesive product that has one or more layers of a substrate and a synthetic water-based cohesive polymer that is applied to the substrate and defines an outer surface of the product. The synthetic water-based cohesive polymer is an inherently crystalline elastomer whose polycrystalline structure has been disrupted such that the elastomer possesses a cohesive property.

Abstract: A laminated tape/bandage comprising a layer of transversely-spaced, longitudinally-extending elastic strands between a pair of outer layers, at least one of which is a warp-knitted (weft insertion) fabric oriented with the knit yarns extending longitudinally and generally parallel to the orientation of the elastic strands.
