  • Patent number: 7146170
Abstract: A method of managing a wireless communication network including a plurality of antennas for communicating with devices via antenna beams, each antenna beam having a set of beam parameters. The method includes the steps of receiving a request from a device; modifying an antenna beam in response to the request by adjusting one or more of the beam parameters of the antenna beam; and communicating with the device via the modified antenna beam. Beam parameters which are adjusted may include azimuth width or angle, elevation width or angle, or beam power.

  • Patent number: 6788272
Abstract: An antenna feed network including a 180° hybrid coupler having a feed port, a 0° port; and a 180° port having an approximately 180° phase difference with the 0° port. A first antenna port is coupled to the 0° port; and a second antenna port is coupled to the 0° port via a respective phased line, the second antenna port having an approximately 90° phase difference with the first antenna port. A third antenna port is coupled to the 180° port; and a fourth antenna port is coupled to the 180° port via a respective phased line, the fourth antenna port having an approximately 90° phase difference with the third antenna port. The feed network can be used to drive antenna elements in phase quadrature. In a preferred embodiment the feed network drives a quadriflar helix antenna.

  • Patent number: 6773018
Abstract: A watertight antenna assembly adapted for mounting on a mounting surface includes a sealing gasket having a body portion and a peripheral edge, and a continuous sidewall formed with the peripheral edge. A radome is releasably mounted to the sealing gasket forming a cavity therebetween. The sealing gasket includes a sealing projection that extends continuously along an inside portion of the sidewall and is configured to abut the radome to form a seal. A downwardly depending lip is formed of deformable material and extending continuously along a bottom portion of the sidewall. When the sealing gasket is compressed against the mounting surface, the lip sealingly deforms against the mounting surface forming a watertight seal therebetween so as to prevent ingress of water into the cavity.

  • Patent number: 6721155
Abstract: A surge protector includes a coaxial through-section having a through inner conductor and a through outer conductor, a stub having a stub inner conductor, a stub outer conductor, a first end and a second end. The stub is coupled to the coaxial through-section, wherein the stub inner conductor is conductively coupled to the through inner conductor at the first end of the stub, and the stub outer conductor is conductively coupled to the through outer conductor at the first end of the stub. The stub inner conductor is substantially hollow and having at least one helical aperture disposed therein. A charge elimination device conductively coupled between the stub inner conductor and a grounding device, and a radio frequency short circuit bypass is electrically coupled between the stub inner conductor and the stub outer conductor. A DC injection port is also conductively coupled between the stub inner conductor and the stub outer conductor.

  • Patent number: 6683254
Abstract: A cable coupler between a trunk cable having a first center conductor and a first outer conductor and a second cable having a second center conductor and a second outer conductor. An aperture is formed in the first outer conductor; a probe having a capacitive element on a first end is inserted into the aperture to contact the first center conductor. A second end of the probe is coupled to the second center conductor. The first outer conductor and the second outer conductor may be coupled together directly or via a second capacitor. A cover may be added to secure the different components and or to provide environmental protection for the cable coupler. The capacitive element may be mounted on an insulating substrate. A range of capacitive elements may be used to achieve a desired coupling between the trunk cable and the second cable.

  • Patent number: 6650301
Abstract: A single piece twin folded dipole antenna for transmitting and receiving electromagnetic signals is provided. The antenna includes a conductor extending in a V-shape at an angle of approximately 45 degrees adjacent to a ground plane. The conductor includes a feed section, a radiator input portion, and a radiating portion. The radiator input portion includes a first radiator input section and a second radiator input section whereby the radiator input sections are integrally formed with the radiating portion. The radiating portion includes a first radiating section and a second radiating section connected in parallel whereby each radiating section includes a fed dipole and a passive dipole.

  • Patent number: 4843579
Abstract: A method and apparatus for rapidly and accurately dispensing measured amounts of powdered material from a vibratory feeder with a shaker rod extending through an orifice at the discharge end of the feeder and which rod undergoes reciprocal movement in response to vibration of the feeder to regulate the advancement of the powdered material. Alternate forms of control algorithms are employed in association with a computer to determine the optimum rate of feed and drive level for a given powder and feeder arrangement to result in a specific final weight within an acceptable tolerance for each fill cycle.

  • Patent number: 4431070
Abstract: Precision weighing and filling of comminuted materials is carried out at high speeds by advancing the material to be weighed into a rotatable pan, applying an unbalanced electromagnetic force to the pan so as to cause it to rotate through a predetermined angle to dump the contents into a tiltable discharge funnel and selectively locking the pan in a predetermined rotational position in preparation for refilling and the next dumping operation, all in rapid succession.
