  • Publication number: 20130279813
Abstract: Image-processing apparatus and methods to adaptively vary an interest point threshold value and control a number of interest points identified in an image frame are described. Sub-regions of an image frame may be processed in a sequence, and an interest point threshold value calculated for each sub-region. The calculated value of the interest point threshold may depend upon pre-selected values and values determined from the processing of one or more prior sub-regions. By using adaptive thresholding, a number of interest points detected for each frame in a sequence of image frames may remain substantially constant, even though objects within the frames may vary appreciably.

  • Publication number: 20130278376
Abstract: Certain aspects are directed to a thermal fuse for preventing overheating of RF devices in a telecommunication system. The RF thermal fuse includes a body, a conductive bolt, and a driving mechanism. The body can be positioned on a transmission line between an RF signal source and an RF device. The conductive bolt is positioned in the body. The conductive bolt has a length sufficient to provide impedance at a point of protection on the transmission line in response to the conductive bolt contacting a live conductor of the transmission line. The impedance is sufficient to reflect a portion of the incident power of an RF signal from the RF source. The driving mechanism can cause the conductive bolt to contact the live conductor in response to a temperature at or near the point of protection exceeding a threshold temperature.

  • Patent number: 8554248
Abstract: A system and method for estimating a location of a wireless device in a wireless communication system having a plurality of nodes and a plurality of location measurement units (“LMUs”). A set of signal samples from a first wireless device and a second wireless device may be collected by one or more LMUs in a search window. • Publication number: 20130260844
Abstract: In one embodiment, an antenna system has a plurality of antenna paths and a calibration circuit. Each of the antenna paths has a transceiver and an antenna element. The calibration circuit has (i) a calibration transceiver and a different coupler coupled to each antenna path. The couplers are connected in series with one another and with the calibration transceiver. Connecting the couplers in series, rather than in parallel, reduces the amount of cabling needed and the need for a combiner/splitter or switch matrix between the couplers and the calibration transceiver, thereby reducing the cost, volume, and/or weight associated with the calibration circuit.

  • Patent number: 8537041
Abstract: A non-linear amplifier is linearized using interpolation-based digital pre-distortion (DPD). In one embodiment, the digital input signal is interpolated to generate a higher-sample-rate signal that is then pre-distorted. The resulting higher-sample-rate pre-distorted signal is then decimated to generate a final pre-distorted digital signal that is converted into an analog pre-distorted signal by a digital-to-analog converter (DAC) before being applied to the amplifier. In a polyphase embodiment, different versions of the original input digital signal are generated, where each version is then pre-distorted using a different DPD module to generate a different intermediate pre-distorted digital signal. The intermediate pre-distorted signals are filtered and combined to generate the final pre-distorted digital signal. In both embodiments, better linearization (e.g.
