Publication number: 20140306770Abstract: A signal-processing system has an amplifier that generates an amplified (RF) output signal based on an (RF) input signal. The amplifier receives a supply voltage that can be selectively set to an appropriate level between a lower power supply level and a higher power supply level. With one power supply permanently connected to the supply voltage node, a control unit executes software to toggle a supply switch to periodically connect and disconnect the other power supply thereby generating a weighted average value for the supply voltage between the two power supply levels. When a sudden and large increase occurs in the (input) power level, hardware-interrupt circuitry interrupts and supersedes the software-based control of the supply-voltage switch to quickly switch the supply voltage towards the higher power supply level. The hardware-interrupt circuitry handles such situations faster than the software-based control in order to prevent a limit violation of spectrum emission requirements.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 22, 2011Publication date: October 16, 2014Applicant: ANDREW WIRELESS SYSTEMS GMBHInventor: Udo-Michael Vetter

Patent number: 8837559Abstract: Certain aspects and features are directed to determining characteristics such as phase margin and gain margin of signals such as standardized orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (“OFDM”) signals. In one aspect, a processing system can identify multiple carriers in an OFDM signal communicated by a repeater. The carriers include carriers from frequency guard band other than those used for communicating payload data or pilot data. The processing system can generate dynamic characteristic data to be sent via the carriers. The processing system can generate modulate the carriers with the dynamic characteristic data. The modulated power level of the carriers is less than a maximum level of noise filtered by a device receiving the OFDM signal.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 2013Date of Patent: September 16, 2014Assignee: Andrew Wireless Systems GmbHInventor: Milun Jovanovic

Patent number: 8625658Abstract: Repeaters, event those having digital processing, exist. The significant drawback of these digital repeaters is that the computational complexity or the processing speed has to be very high in order to guarantee, particularly when compensating for echo, that the necessary delay does not excessively impair the performance. The aim of the invention is to provide a structure of the repeater in which the computational complexity is reduced without this reduction having a negative effect on the performance during signal filtering and/or suppression of natural oscillation. To this end, the invention provides that in order to carry out bandpass filtering, adaptive pre-equalization and suppression of the natural oscillation, the components of the repeater in the uplink branch and downlink branch are arranged in a designated sequence, whereby duplex filters are used for coupling both repeater branches to the antennas.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 2010Date of Patent: January 7, 2014Assignee: Andrew Wireless Systems GmbHInventor: Thomas Kummetz
