Abstract: A sashless window includes upper, lower and side frame members to define a generally square or rectangular frame. First and second panes are positioned within the frame and are mounted for substantially vertical and parallel movement within the frame. Each of the side frame members defines a channel into which opposite side edges of the panes extend. The channel includes elongate guide members for guiding vertical movement of the panes whereby the first and second guide members extend to positions facing front and rear faces, respectively, of the first and second panes, respectively. Each of the guide members includes a seal extending into contact with the face of the respective pane. A third guide member extends to a position between the panes and includes a pair of seals projecting in opposite directions and extending into contact with facing surfaces of the first and second panes.
Abstract: A sliding window, door or the like (10), including at least two panes (23, 24) which extend in a generally vertical plane and at least one of which is movable generally horizontally, a sill (11) including a channel (17) that extends generally horizontally and within which bottom edge portions of each of the at least two panes (23, 24) are received, a dividing member (20) within the channel (17) which extends between the at least two panes (23, 24). The dividing member (20) extends either in contact with or in close facing relationship with the bottom edge portions of the at least two panes (23, 24).

Abstract: A window includes at least one multiple pane unit (1, 2) mounted in an opening for sliding movement between an open position and a closed position. The multiple pane unit (1, 2) includes at least two panes (34, 38) in spaced disposition, and has a seal (30) disposed there between to form a sealed chamber between the two panes. At least one of the panes (38) extends beyond the seal (30). In an alternative aspect of the invention, there may be two such multiple pane units (1, 2) in a sliding or other type of window. In the closed positions of the window, portions of the seal (30) of the multiple pane units are aligned and one of the multiple pane units (1) has at least one of its panes (38) extending beyond the seal (30).
