These causes include the rejection of a transplanted heart and/or the progression of a stenosis in a coronary artery. As one or more stenoses in a coronary artery become progressively more narrow thereby causing reduced blood flow to the heart muscle coronary circulation, the tracker system can alert the patient by either or both internal and/or external alarm means to take the appropriate medical action. Within a preset window after the maxQRS point, the processor searches for a sample at which the second finite difference is less than a threshold that is a function of average QRS amplitude. If such a qualifying sample is found, the processor examines its location relative to the location of an adaptive window that is centered on a sample that is an adaptively determined distance from the peak of the R wave. If the qualifying point is within the adaptive window, it is chosen as the ST point. A continuously smooth outer surface for the catheter with check valve system assures that there is no propensity for a blood clot to form in cracks on the system's outer surface. The check valve is a formed from a low durometer, highly elastic, elastomer cylindrical tube that is shrunk into a cylindrical groove that would typically be located near the catheter's distal end. When pressurized fluid is injected through the catheter, the cylinder that is placed over one or more holes in the cylindrical groove in the catheter is forced to expand radially outward which allows the fluid to be injected into the blood vessel.
