Abstract: A light source assembly (10) includes a light source (12) and a base (14) to which the light source is detachably attachable. The base is adapted to orient the light source to a plurality of positions when the light source is mounted thereon. The light source comprises a battery mounted therein for providing power thereto, at least when the light source is disconnected therefrom. The base is also adapted for being powered by the battery and/or by an alternative power source. The light source is adapted to be operational both when mounted on the base and when disconnected therefrom. The light source assembly may further comprise a mounting plate for attachment thereof, for example, to a building or an external surface of a vehicle.
